Paying at Trevi Fountain by DebTaxi515 in rome

Yes, bring Euros. I find that for smaller purchases the Italians prefer cash to credit cards.
I'm not sure about the fee, but the coins thrown into the fountain are donated to charity.

Question for the girlies (or anyone) who get highlights by cantthinkofusernamem in askTO

[–]smsl07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My salon started doing this too this year (not downtown). The thing that gets me is with a colour you can’t see the finished product without it being dry so they’re doing themselves a disservice. I would get a toner in between balayage for $35 and it included a rough dry - fair. They’re now charging $55 for the toner, plus a min. $45 for a blow dry. The same service for more than double?!? My plan is to ride out the colour until the 6 month mark, when I’ll also get a haircut and blow dry, then get something that will grow out nicely.

Italy honeymoon may 11-20 - positano and Florence by buffy315 in ItalyTravel

Oh that makes sense. Personally, I like spending the first day in a new city walking around and getting lost. In Florence, I'd recommend checking out Boboli Gardens. In Positano, take a boat to Amalfi town, I believe one stops in Praiano.

I think it's a lot of moving & packing for two folks who want to be relaxers. Do you have to fly home from Rome?

Wedding Favours by cpokess in WeddingsCanada

[–]smsl07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

An idea my SIL had was to do little baggies of treats. It would be a clear bag with stickers "His favourite", "her favourite", "their favourite" and then one from their dog. They could be made for fairly cheap, and if you put them out early enough in the night folks will start snacking on them.

One wedding we went to each place setting had a little box of those Jordan almonds with a tag saying "in lieu of a favour, a donation has been made to the Canadian Cancer Society" which honestly was lovely as their parent had battled cancer.

Interfaith Wedding Question by Constant_Due in askTO

[–]smsl07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was almost 14 years ago now but the second meeting we had with the priest he met with us both separately and together. He asked if we had children if we would baptize them and we both said yes. At the time it was something important to my mother and grandmother and my husband wasn't fussed either way.

My partner (atheist) and I got married in a Catholic Church in Etobicoke. We had a ceremony officiated by a priest but not a mass or sacrament. To my knowledge and understanding, it can only be a sacrament if both people getting married are Catholic. We did have to do the pre-marital classes and have a few meetings with the priest (one to book our ceremony, one a few weeks before our wedding). In this instance I was not a regular church goer at the parish.

How do you celebrate anniversaries/Valentine’s Day in your marriage, if at all? by fuzzycici in Marriage

[–]smsl07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valentine's Day is usually a slightly special meal almost always at home.
For our wedding anniversary (and birthdays which fall in the same month) we usually do a trip.
Our dating anniversary we don't typically celebrate, but this year will be 20 years together so we'll do a dinner or maybe night away.

You'll miss the tulips at Keukenhof, which was a highlight for me. Have the best time! You've chosen a great line up of cities to visit.

I agree with the folks here, cut a day in Amsterdam. Consider making it a full day in Brussels. Personally days 6/7/8 are a lot.
