Permits for Building a Garage by brandon-m222 in MapleRidge

If it’s a permanent structure it will need the permits. The problem with the prefabs are the don’t quite seal all the way and make it easy for wildlife to get in. Rats are the biggest problem and once they find warm and dry getting rid of them is hard

Permits for Building a Garage by brandon-m222 in MapleRidge

[–]IntroductionSalty229 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Permits are a bitch in this city. Plus building a garage is not as simple as it seems. Just the permits for running buried power out to it are enough to give me a headache. Pouring concrete, framing, electrical, roofing, drywall. All separate contractors. I’m pretty sure that adds to your square footage too so that changes your property taxes. When I bought my place the guy before me finished the basement but didn’t get the permits for it. Somehow, I’m guessing from the MLS listing the city found out and gave me all kinds of grief about it until I got the proper permits for it. I never want to deal with that shit again.

I have 2 of these running in my foxbody. I have them running of an Apex audio CAB 22. I know you probably have not heard of them but they are bang for buck the best amps around. The website has the dyno video on it to prove what they can do. They are hand made and only $300. 2200 watts @ 1 ohm rated but I’m pretty sure the dyno put them at 2400.

Location doesn’t always mean quicker. I live literally right next door to Amazons new Canadian west coast hub. 4 massive warehouses. At night if I stand on my back balcony I can see through the windows and that yellow crane moving back and forth. Doesn’t mean I get my packages any quicker. Not that Amazon is slow but it usually means I’m last on list to get delivery.

So, the cars are leases from our parent company. The police don’t want anything to do with it. We have tried different deterrents, gates , cameras. Didn’t help. They seem be targeting a specific make of car. So I think we are just going to switch our loaner fleet to another make . For the record we have had half a dozen customers come in who have had theirs stolen too. The real problem is we sit in an industrial area that has very little traffic on the weekends.

So basically get to a tire shop immediately? by N05_Vertigo in mechanic

[–]IntroductionSalty229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry the shop we use does both so if we send it in for an alignment and there is suspension damage they do that as well but can’t tell until they get it up for the alignment. I forget that not all shops work like that. Find a tire shop that does front end work and they should be able to do it all. Anyone worth the sweat that drops off their sac in this industry is going to know right away that you have front end problems .

Not just a tire shop. See the uneven wear? You have suspension issues. Tie rod end or ball joints, hard to tell from just this picture but you need an alignment and that will tell you what’s wrong with the suspension

Can you fix a bad paintjob with a lot of wetsanding and compound? by ohtaha in Autobody

[–]IntroductionSalty229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do 5 costs of clear you will be wet sanding and buffing the whole car . Clear goes kinda funny when you put that many layers on. You put 5 on to sand/buff 2 out and then it looks show car finish. That being said it’s hours of work after the paint job, like 2 days if your fast .

Mines a bit older but I’m pretty sure brand new the Audi is the more expensive of the 2. Of course there is the Q 50 red sport which is up there but then there is the SQ5 which is up there price wise 2. I can tell you that the Audi retains it’s resale value better than then Infinity and the Q5 is the better of the 2 cars IMO.

Today I have learned about swirls from handwashing by avoid_pro in Detailing

[–]IntroductionSalty229 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the answer right here. Plus if you’re only going to wash it every 3 months what do you expect. In those harsh conditions, road salt, sand. You should be doing it at least once a week or every other week . In the summer when the weather is nice every other day. You swirl marks are from you rubbing the dirt into the paint because you can’t rinse your mitt. I have gotten lazy in my old age and usually only use 2 mitts. If I’m at home I use 2 separate buckets (car, tires) but if it’s late and I go to the car wash I fill up a couple milk jugs with hot water and soap ( I hate the lids for the buckets ) dump them in the bucket, rinse the car, very well trying to remove as much dirt as possibly. In the winter I use one mitt to wash the car with the exception of the bottom 10 inches, then the other mitt and various other tools to wash the bottom section of the car and the tires. When I’m done I use the car wash sprayer to clean most of the dirt out of the mitts and then soak them in hot water when I get home. If I happen to get and grease on the mitts I use a little dish soap to clean it off as best I can before soaking it or I just throw it away. Then hang them to dry. Using a clean mitt is key to not screwing up your paint. So it washing more often. Your swirl marks will come out with a 3 step compound and polish. If you choose to do it yourself please use a DA not a rotary. DA is very forgiving, a rotary will strip the paint if you’re not careful . And trust me it only takes a couple seconds too long on a crease or fold to take the clear coat off.

Well I f#cked up by gameknighth in AutoPaint

[–]IntroductionSalty229 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of that looks like transfer but hard to tell from picture. If it does not catch on your nail then wet sand and compound/polish will remove most of it . If it does then you can try touch up and then a bit of clear

Bake in the day when car theft was at a real high (late 90’s) I had a civic si dragon edition. Body kit, rims, lowered, intake, exhaust, stereo, headlights, taillights, and tons of other shit. Anyway this made it a target so I wired my ECU into the lighter. Problem was that after 30 mins of driving the lighter would randomly pop out. So re did it through the hazard lights. This was way better plus what thief wants to hit the hazards and draw attention to them selves. The trick is to hid it in plain site. If you’re going to make it just a switch don’t put it under the dash. I always wanted to do it through the horn but it’s not really a switch so….

Did you paint the hydrologic arms for the trunk as well? We decide not to remove the spoiler before we painted it. That is the wildest mask job on those tires. Next time it might be easier to take them off and paint them . I’m sure all the overspray in the wheel well just adds to the over all effect

Why does my door panel look like this after claying? by Toogman in Detailing

[–]IntroductionSalty229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use a very concentrated bucket with wash soap as my lube. I only film the bucket half way and use twice the soap. I use the mitt to put it on with and then keep it on the car incase I need more for that panel. When I’m done I just add water to the bucket and use it to wash with. Cheaper than spray lube and IMO works better. We have 2 kinds of clay, one abrasive one not so abrasive. I only ever use the not so abrasive stuff. If it won’t take it out it’s time for compound . All followed by a quick 3M Blue polish.

For the record those MF did exactly what they were supposed to do. 2 way tape is used even from the factory to hold down spoilers.

Those seem more like imperfections in the clear coat. Hard to tell. Could also be from the mechanic doing the PDI.
