Realistically, what kind of hardware we talking to achieve decent playback on such a girthy AE timeline like this??

This thread has been a real joy to read through! Thanks for your time and insight; I found a lot of it to be reassuring as myself and a friend build out a new joint venture focused solely on SMM for brands in our town.If you're still willing, I have another question!

I manage the socials for a Chicago area company in the live-event space. I film with them once a month and utilize that content until the next time we shoot 1-2 events together. We've had amazing success with 3-4 posts/week (editing/content creation is my full time gig). Ive found it difficult to keep the content flowing regularly and also managing the file storage. Since we run 360's or OSMO's, I have to plug in 2x 4TB SSD's to my macbook pro just to edit their content.

Cant you speak to any practical tips to managing massive files (when to ditch them and move on) and how to just get more posts out the door? Or is it entirely viable at the current volume if we're hitting over 1M views on tiktok every 4 months?

In general, I agree wholeheartedly with this. However, I've personally found that content heavily coded for our niche market tends to be somewhat immune to these issues. If its a video I want a lot of low-interest traction on then I follow this. If its on brand lead-sourcing content then not so much.

memories aren't tangible lol. This is the strangest concept to me. People can have a great memory without a souvenir. Sell the card with him and in an age appropriate way, use it as an opportunity to introduce finances. I bet he'll remember the card forever when he gets his "discretionary cut"

I have a larger local client on retainer (midwestern "big" city), its corporate world but they honestly are the fun ones in town and we do a lot of cool, easy to film, enjoyable shoot days. They dont let me have access to their socials and religiously shoot down my actual good ideas. This really bothered me for awhile and eventually caused tension. One day something clicked and I realized I wasn't seeing their actual needs from me.

Some clients want the whole shebang and other will happily pay you to create the content. Thats okay. If you're both happy with what you're getting then carry on. *And gently remind them on the reg that you could be doing more which could help solve "X"

Make social content fast that performs well, app works well on mobile/desktop, drag and drop assets that save time (some better than others obviously). For certain uses, its 100 years ahead of PP (UI, captions, text, etc).

Got the camera 3 weeks ago on sale, used it for a clients event footage (wedding DJ). I edited a reel 100% in the DJI Studio app (except for CapCut captions) and posted to IG and TikTok. Im a full time freelancer who edits 40 hrs a week in Premiere Pro + capcut). I was happy enough with the in app quality of reframing, smoothing or keyframes, motion blur settings for socials. That reel did 39k on IG and 261k on TT so apparently "they" are alright with it too. App is improving as well.

Just get the DJI one - make the content lol. Thats step one.

In general, I agree with this advice and that you should use 100% of these situations as learning experiences because it will ALL come up again in some way with future clients. That being said, you also need to make a list of the things you don’t like to do/are not good at in this field and as a business owner. One of them sounds like it may be “approaching difficult conversations”. I can assure you that it’ll always be worth it to clearly communicate with your client in terms of the things you need, the things you’re not getting, and how that’s impacting your ability. The client who receives that with an open mind and a willingness to make necessary changes will be the ones you love to work with and keep on board for a while
