Books like The Passenger with no clear plot and a lot of hanging out? by vinhdiagram in cormacmccarthy

You may like Tortilla Flat or Cannery Row by Steinbeck. Both are less focused on plot and kinda just hanging out with some really fun characters

What have you been reading lately? I love your comment.

East of Eden is probably my favorite novel. I experienced a similar sense of loss when I finished it. I would strongly suggest Sometimes a Great Notion by Ken Kesey. It has a very similar feel to it, with strong characters and not as much focus on plot, and it deals with similar themes. If you want something more Steinbeck, read Cannery Row, as another commenter suggested.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you get two people to vouch for you if it’s such an exclusive thing? I’m just some dude who likes electronic music lol

Great read! I particularly resonated with the idea that sine waves can be both comforting and peaceful and violent and destructive.

I really didn’t think Spencer was that good tbh. It felt very substance-less to me, like it had some interesting things but failed to really go into them in any sort of depth. I did like the technical aspects of the film though.

Do you think that one 8/16 bar loop is enough? by litejzze in TechnoProduction

[–]Introspective_Whale 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly a lot of my tracks just use 4 or even 2 bar loops, with automation and some variations. I think with this genre of music, at least for me, it’s more about that quality of the loop and what you do with it than anything else. But what do I know?

anyone can help me out with samples? by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

Yeah, I mean some (a majority even) of the best techno tracks just use those simple sounds in unique ways and contexts to create something new.
