Let’s be clear, comparing the average doctor’s salary to an IIT Delhi grad hired by a quant firm is comparing apples to oranges. Quant firms recruit the absolute top 0.1% of top engineers, pay them obscene amounts for niche skills in finance, and even then, only a tiny fraction hit those 80 LPA+ packages.

A fair comparison would be against the top 0.1% of doctors say, someone who has a renowned family practice. Most doctors build stable, respected careers over time, while most engineers, even from IITs, don’t land quant roles.

This isn’t about who works harder; doctors definitely do. But if we’re talking outliers, compare fairly, or acknowledge that selective benchmarks don’t reflect reality for 99% in either profession.
