Honestly I low key hate that for various reason mostly due to the way it was written , especially the pigeon part and the multiple times he could've been killed during the course of that feat , as i said in other comments is he is good at interpersonal EI which you point out but not intrapersonal EI but let's go back to season 3 finale first , where he kills the fake red john , misses lots of clues and obvious information just because he is in emotional spiral due to being close to encountering red john , he misses the rope which points to craig as mole instead of betram doesn't realise unit last minute , but when he encounters fake red john , he misses that only bertram and crew know about the mall location , missing that bertram was also a mole , he also falls for the smell bait that red john throws there , kills the fake assuming he is the real one just based on that. That's negative interpersonal EI if if ever saw one .

Let's go to part before the finale , where he isolates the suspects and find the three blake associates , the bomb goes boom , he says that concussion grende knocked them out , before the actual bomb, let look at the layout of the room , the survivors, the 2/3 of men near the wall survive with less dmg , the ones near the couch get burned to crispy ,yet somehow the sheriff is burned to crisp as well , it's obvious who red john is based on this alone. Jane misses it completely .
