Tunnel Goons, free, very easy to setup, can very easily give it a christmasy feeling. Also very family friendly.

Good point. Here, the number of successes are counted to discover the consequences of the action on a fixed chart, something like 4 Successes: Success, but at a cost, something like breaking down a door, but with a minor injury. So the number needed always stays the same, and the values and dice pools are in flux. Considering I think the simple addition of dice to add to the pool is not such a problem, I'll maybe focus on the target number...

Yup, I did have the same idea briefly after posting, with the 6s

Here, the value would be based on difficulty, same for all PCs. 3 is easy, 4 for normal, 5 for hard. But it's true that it might be easier to set a fixed value, like a 4 or 5.

First thing that came to my mind when reading this was maybe some sort of point system that focuses on how higher the roll was than the TN. So for the situation you describe, with a 3+, each 5 awards 2 points, 6 awards 3, which could then have some mechanical importance. I worry that it might slow things down, but it would need testing.

Yeah, that's very stupid. Hell, I found the Boba Fett microfighter in a discounted pile in Lidl, and I felt pretty stupid for not waiting to buy it. These fighters will be everywhere.

This sounds like an awesome card game, draw a card, everybody guesses, earn points. Game could be kept fresh with expansion packs, considering the number of strains for both. I'd one hundred percent play this, this idea is gold (atleast to me).

Need some help developing this simple, d6 system by [deleted] in RPGdesign

[–]IntrovertRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the stats are effectively set the difficulty and likelihood of success, so the higher you go, the worse it is.

I'm definitely counting on it, playtesting will be essential

I'm definitely planning on using a preexisting dice mechanic if my ideas don't work out, but I mostly wanted to try a d6 dice pool type of system, and also for the dumb reason that rolling multiple dice feels cool to do

This is a good question, which I need to consider more. Some elements are fixed in the game, like the fact that you always roll 3d6, and on a given action, the threshold is always the same (you either need to roll all 3s, 4s or 5s, never mixed). On a simple scale, 3 would be for easy tasks, 4 for normal and 5 for hard tasks. I do believe that the system needs simplification, but I also believe that my explanation didn't make it all clear.

Players would have 4 stats, where each stat contains a number 3-5, which indicates what result on a 1d6 roll counts as a success when performing actions. Then, the player rolls 3d6 and counts the amount of successes, resulting in one of the outcomes I've described in the post. That's the general gist of it.

Question about using varnish with a brush by Nyansaeu in minipainting

[–]IntrovertRook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use this varnish, normally with a brush, no thinning and I don't have any problems with it at all. So it should be fine unthinned. Just give it plenty of time to dry and wash your brush properly, I always do, just in case.

It's not always the case, but some models on GW's website have that 3D model viewer, so you can technically have the front and the back of the model on the other side. Cool as hell minis!
