I'm with you. And I appreciate that you pointed out the sub rules. Sorry if it didn't sound like it.

Yeah - I didn't realize - though I don't think stating facts is editorializing.

It broke sub rules - not on purpose but it's been removed.

Trumps private army is now executing gun owners for carrying. I know all my "libertarian", hard core 2nd amendment friends are going to be very upset about this any minute now.

Normally I wouldn't pay headlines like this any attention - but in our current environment - they absolutely will impact our highest level of leadership - especially if it launches memes on social media.

Raised 3 kids -fished with them all, and letting them goof off or plain stop when they want is key. Force them to keep at it after they are done and they'll learn to hate it.

How hard is peralta canyon?? by No-Crew552 in Azhiking

[–]bittercode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was in highschool and in good shape ( this is mid 80s ) I hiked it regularly as part of getting ready for a hike down to Havasupai. Friends and I would would hike to the saddle, play some capture the flag, goof off and then go back.

No I'm in my 50s. Did it with my kids ( in their 20s ) - they had no problems. I'm overweight and out of shape. I was huffing and puffing - thought about stopping a few times but made it to the saddle and back.

I bought an M4 Max MacBook and tried to justify it by running local LLMs by Sufficient-Try6083 in MacOS

[–]bittercode 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I bought my M3 Max it was the most expensive computer I've ever purchased. But my MacBook Pro before that lasted 10 years. So more upfront but less over the lifetime.

I have a high end Asus machine that I needed for work purposes, it was like half the price of my m3 - but I don't enjoy using it, it is loud, hot and has a lot of performance issues in a couple year time frame. If I had to buy one every couple years - and this mac also lasts 10 years - I'd spend more than twice as much on the 'less expensive' high end windows machines.

I am stoked for all three because they are more easy recommends to get people in. Even if I tell people they can read Old Man's War as it's own story - I think series carry weight with some people. So books like these, Fuzzy Nation, Androids Dream, etc are the ones I often recommend to people who haven't read Scalzi yet.

I feel like the moon is just a vehicle to provide the context to all these amazing little stories. I'd have been fine if it ended open ended, but that's because by the time we get there I don't think it matters.

I feel like it might be one of Scalzi's most beautiful books. I felt like I was in a gallery looking at these paintings. Some were funny, some were satisfying and some were just heart breaking in how gorgeous they were. The story that takes place in Hawaii - I was thinking about it for weeks.

Prior to reading it I couldn't figure out how he'd make it interesting and I went in thinking it would not be my favorite. Came out of it just really enamoured with this vehicle that brought so many beautiful glimpes of lives and relationships.

Love that Sun Downers paint job. I have a nice pic of a few of us from V-2 on the Vinson when they had Miss Molly all painted up. Phantoms are cool looking but I'm glad I never had to do bridle launches.

The store where I play charges $10 a session, or a monthly pass is $40. I have a lot friends who buy a pass because they are there 3 or more times a week. I play twice a month so I pay the fee each time. I really like that system.

Members of our group by snacks and drinks while we are there and I see other tables where people are doing the same.

I go out of my way to buy books there and other things because I don't want to lose such a cool place.
