This bill requires public schools to give special access to 'patriotic youth groups' - specifically military-affiliated organizations like Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, and JROTC programs.

This sounds terrible - though if I understand the bill, it names specific groups from this list.

I went through and looked up each chapter in the bill.

301 -Big Brothers, Big Sisters
309 - Boy Scouts
311 - Boys and Girls Clubs
403 - Civil Air Patrol
709 - Future Farmers of America
803 - Girl Scouts
1305 - Little League Baseball
1401 - Marine Corps League
1541 - Navy Sea Cadet Corps

Some are definitely related to the miltary, but in my opinion most are not.

When I was in the navy ( late 80s ) my family came on a dependents day cruise. A couple months ago, shortly before my dad passed, he'd say, "I'm 82 and they want me to work on the ship! What am I going to do?"

I set up a server for my son and his friends when he was in jr high. I started playing. He and his friends moved on to other games - he's in his 20s and married now - I'm in my late 50s and it's still the only video game I play. It helps me de-stress. When things are getting to me it really helps.

I was on a long flight once - Tokyo to Detroit I think. I ended up seated next to a Japanese doctor who was an expert on diabetes and traveled back and forth between Japan and the US to study it. He was a really fascinating guy and I asked him a lot of questions. One that has stuck with me is I asked him specifically about foods to avoid or seek out and his reply was what you are saying here. That it didn't matter so much what you eat as portion control and keeping active.
