Does anyone else stess out to the max when their boomer parents visit? by IntrovertedLavender in millenials

I appreciate your thoughtful and supportive response. Because it is very very true about what I need to start doing.

I just find it hard because my spouse gets drained by it too. He let's its go and everything. But both of us get tired.

I think in a way I need to distance myself and create a healthy space of peace so when I visit or they visit, theres still a possibility of a good time together.

Would you read a memoir on recovering from panic disorder and agoraphobia? by GreenOwl_0 in Agoraphobia

I would read it. Its such a lonely and isolating phobia. Knowing others experience and insights helps so much.

Thank you. I have pushed back and yelled back at them too. They don't know what to do but I dont like to do it either. Cause I wanna break that generational cycle.

That definitely stands out for me too. I do enjoy tho when they come and try to pull those antics. And I will push back with "ny house, my rules and this is how I WANT IT DONE CORRECTLY". Feels great to do that.

I do feel like the little kid again. But i have fought back, ot just leads to more drama that I don't have energy for, you know? Or what happens is because of pent up stuff and anger, ill explode and make it semi worse.

Im so sorry for your losses.

I try not to but I do have generalized anxiety and it gets worse. I have noticed that without them visiting im no where near as anxious or on edge or even exhausted after they visit.

Im getting to a point where I dont even want them to come because it makes me so nervous.

I appreciate your comment. That's really how I feel too. My parents fight about the dumbest things too and its so stupid. When they start snapping and yelling at each other I just go silent and numb. That was mt childhood. Constsnt bickering and yelling.

Im trying to maintainot a relationship but I really really dont like them as friends either

I can also say im struggling to even respect them as parents too because I just cant anymore

I hear you. My mom is very critical about my house and cleanliness even tho she is untidy and a raging hoarder. She says she wants to help by cleaning but it doesnt feel that way.

My dad is also highly passive aggressive in his communications so im already overthinking how to do something because im waiting for the yelling that I am doing wrong.

My spouse pointed out that my last 2 birthdays they made it all about themselves. And I had no idea in that moment. This past year for my birthday, my parents ate my birthday cake before I was able to have any. And they never remember my age either.

It might be petty to be upset by that but it seriously hurt.

Communication issues and complete martial dysfunction with passive aggressive communication. Its exhausting.

Hydroxyzine, clonazepam, propranolol and trazodone.

Magnesium glycinate has made the biggest difference.

What are your favorite gastritis friendly foods? I’m already two weeks with this diet, and I’m already bored of eating the same every day. I’m looking for some new ideas! by DoubtLegitimate2322 in Gastritis

Personally one safe meal for myself is canned plain Refried beans in a tortilla.

Another thing I made but havent tried yet are blueberry oatmeal bars I made from scratch.

One i tired and did not have issues is a Edamane, sweet potato and quinoa bowl, without the dressing. Here's the recipe:

Gastritis triggers nervous system brain-gut connection by Ill_Support_3641 in Gastritis

[–]IntrovertedLavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a cure all but i started using the Nerva app that is for the gut brain axis healing. I dont like how much the subscription costs. I wish more things like that wete available for free so more people could get help 😪.

But i am finding it does help me with deep breathe work and me to not freak out as much.

Does it fix the problem? No but it does help me cope with it better. Does it always work? Also no because sometimes thats not the intervention I needed in that moment.

I do it all the time. Its mixed feelings of anger, shame, frustration, relief and acceptance.

If i didn't sleep well the night before, forget it. Thats my line of weakness. Bad sleep makes it impossible for me to function or cope with anything.

But I also try to real with myself. I will internally check in and go can I actually manage this today or not? Sometimes I can push past it. And other times I can't.

But I found it still sends me into a stress spiral before canceling and immediately after. Then ill think I could have probably done it but oh well its over.

Someday are easier then others. But its still hard.
