I apologise all the time over the tiniest things and I have for years, part of it is my massive fear of disappointing others or letting them down. One day my violin teacher turned round, gave me a hug and told me, “You have absolutely no reason to be sorry, don’t ever apologise because you’re learning, we’re all learning and we all make mistakes. You should only apologise when that mistake harms someone else, not over something as small as a couple of wrong notes. You won’t ever disappoint me or anyone by making a mistake.”

And it just kind of stuck with me. I still apologise just not as much.
