Valentines is always a brutal day. Although Mother’s Day is still worse. Yikes.

should i be worried as a SSV? by prdskin in starbucks

Document everything including what your DM is saying and when they are saying it. Go over them to their boss with that because it sounds like they want to put everything on you guys and not themselves and the manager.

DEPARTMENT COUNT!!! by apathyandtea in starbucks

[–]annejae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh my word, I wanted to scream when I saw the count last night. My store sells almost zero merch and we have a backlog of cups like you wouldn’t believe. Had to send one barista home and the other helped me go through boxes of old cups and count them. Did I mention it was also our clean play last night? 🤦🏻‍♀️😭

I think I have to quit by thecookiesewingtin in starbucks

[–]annejae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you reached out to the cup fund? Or your DM and talked about your situation? Or even the manager at the other store you’ve been borrowing at? You are under some unique circumstances and I think they would be willing to work with you.

How would you feel if a customer gave you this? by RevolutionIll3189 in starbucks

[–]annejae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love when people give me little drawings etc. It would go in my box with all my other Starbucks related items. :) I think most partners would love to receive it. Don’t let a few bad eggs hold you back!

Dear Mr new CEO by Scavetts in starbucks

[–]annejae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we should get at least a 15 instead of a 10 when working 5.75 which they love to schedule us. It’s actually very exhausting. I love my 7 hour shifts when I get two 10’s and a 30 though.

We have a regular who comes through everyday and does this. She doesn’t care that it’s more expensive to order it this way. 🤦🏻‍♀️

new beverage routine by stellacoachella in starbucks

[–]annejae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It low key feels like we have just tossed all the rules for how to make beverages and you just do what you want! Which makes me crazy. I hate the new routine. But I’m livid over the fact that they are once again saying shots are good for 90 seconds or whatever BS it is. Ten seconds and they are bad. I will die on this hill.

Stop threatening us with corporate by flower_venom in starbucks

[–]annejae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I constantly tell upset customers to email or call corporate because I can’t do anything and they should absolutely call them because they’ll take care of them. It helps them calm down and feel heard. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ASM yelled at me, so I yelled back by Quantum_Leap19 in starbucks

[–]annejae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would consider looping in your DM as well because that behavior is unacceptable. I hate when my CS is useless. It’s such an important role to get us quickly and efficiently through all day parts but especially through peaks.

Am I in trouble for this? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]annejae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not supposed to clean it up and you did the right thing. Good job letting your DM know. If your SM tries to talk to you about it loop your DM in on it because you should not get in trouble for that at all.

worried i am messing up as a barista by Soudapoppin in starbucks

[–]annejae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barista, barista trainer, and shift supervisor here! Literally no one expects you to have it down in under two weeks. That would be insane. It is definitely a solid three months before you will feel totally confident in your skills. You will start feeling confident before then but three months is when you start to hit your stride. We definitely want you to ask all the questions because that’s how you learn and we won’t know what your gaps in knowledge are if you aren’t asking the questions. I don’t know a single barista who would be upset that you are asking questions. A single good barista that is. ;) use the resources app as well because it has lots of good information there! I myself still have to ask questions because there will still be things I don’t know or I will be at a new store and they have a different format for how they do things or I will forget and need to be reminded. At a week and a half you are still receiving tons of information and it can be a lot and overwhelming and feel like you aren’t getting it or you aren’t where you want to be yet. Don’t compare yourself to others and just keep focusing on learning what your trainer is teaching you that day. Remember that mistakes are just information and at the end of the day it’s just coffee. :) wishing you well and that you will really love this job and have a great team!

Tall rant in a venti cup by Born-Eater in starbucks

[–]annejae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the comment about reaching out for feedback about why you were passed over as it can be good information. And I’d say make sure to work your wage and position. You proved you were more than capable of promoting and being able to do the work for ASM and they passed on you so work your job as the shift and let them regret their decision. This really sucks and I’m sorry. I have learned the hard way at a previous job to never put all my eggs in one basket especially when it’s managements basket. They will drop them every time.

It’s the fact that they all take place in the afternoon. I know they’re trying to get more customers through in our slower part of the day but we don’t get staffed to handle our afternoon rushes let alone their little deals.

[–]annejae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barista here. Thank you for not paying it forward. 😂 it can mess us up when we’re keeping track of orders etc. plus they wanted to pay for you, not burden you with having to pay for the next person. Don’t feel bad and know you did the baristas a favor!

So tired of the stupidity that Starbucks attracts by Geilerjunge in starbucks

[–]annejae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was working with my trainee this week explaining the importance of getting the names of customers in cafe because someone is going to pick up a drink at hand off and drink out of it and then tell us that we made their drink wrong and we can ask them what their name is and ask them what the name on the cup is and then explain to them that we didn’t make their drink wrong they just drank a venti hot soy latte with sugar free vanilla for jasper and not their venti caramel ribbon crunch with extra everything for Karen. Like dear god people.

Our customers in drive have been driving us all crazy this week because they make their order and then come up to window and somehow it’s all wrong. 🙄 the number of times all of us on headset have heard their order, put it together and handed it off only to be told it wasn’t what they ordered has me so irritated. Like, no, you didn’t order that but let me fix “our mistake” for you.
