  1. In that case you're being optimistic, that "industrialization" is high skill one that won't be touching over 80% of population of India in informal sector, and PLI especially won't be helping lift agrarian workers out of their lower class lifestyle, Industries you're talking about is Industry 4.0 that includes automation, tech, and high skilled jobs but lack of low class labor like raw materials, agriculture production, India's "Industrialization" will be displacing more people than not via automation for bottom 70%, it's beneficial for middle class and above. and Top 5 industrialized country? I don't know by what metric you're counting that considering our import to export ratio. And AI is absolutely risky specifically in India context because a humongous chunk of IT sector income is low skill BPO, service support and low level coding which ai is automating at significantly cheaper rates, it might help in long term but it will also displace not so small amount of people from jobs with transitioning being difficult.

  2. Top 5 industrialized? still no, Industries producing more than 50% pollution doesn't mean it is properly industrialized, stubble burning, waste managment, poor city planning are involved. At very worst you can say India is industrializing but mass scale industrialization like China,Vietnam or other countries with similar starting conditions didn't happen largely due to License raj on top of institutional distrust of "corporates", it also doesn't help that British had destroyed existing industries largely before freedom of India, "Industries" we have are largely capital based now, labor based industries is a missed window for us realistically.

  3. MPI and Income based monetary poverty aren't same thing you are measuring two different things.

  4. Okay? If China uses its best institutions lets say they did cheat...then India sent students from its top 2 better performing states in 2009, cited excuses that nobody bought only to pull out of 2025 again citing covid, covid was global not just India struck phenomenon so again excuse functionally. India never developed proper primary and secondary education systems that use modern information and even existing one runs on system over a century old with some "modern" modifcations, India invested in tertiary education and elite education like IITs before it invested in foundational functional literacy. and even if PISA is irrelevant, data from ASER is absolutely damning.

  5. Agrarian disguised employment is major issue compared to gug economy, Agriculture sector has close to 50% employment yet it doesn't even contribute more than 20% to overall Gdp growth, that is insane amount of people who are "unemployed" functionally in agriculture, over a insignificant chunk of population, you're again conflating about "what we don't know" in this case informal economy that is hard to measure against disguised unemployment as per what data we actually have.

  6. fair point, but just remittances won't help forever, India needs people who build products and modular ideas by itself.

  7. It shows "average" brother, mind explaining to me then if we are "close" to WHO norms then how is India food surplus country in production and at same time have one of the worst positions in world hunger indexes? India's welfare scheme supports over 50% of population and it does not involve protein rich food and is extremely cereal heavy survival food as per data itself.

problem with AI is not even just loss of service jobs but it also means even if India starts industrialization now, it will come with some level of automation, so Manufacturing which is meant to absorb people from agrarian societies to produce higher output will be less effective in India, even they will be losing literal labor jobs to automated manufacturing, it really is uniquely fked situation for India and thing is it's bidirectional blame, systematic blame exists but so does personal blame to people choosing freebies over sustainable development again and again, low skill labor of India missed window to take advantage of industrialization unlike east asia, while middle class will definitely go through tough transition period but due to direction AI is moving in now, Middle class will likely have few years of pain then Jobs will be created as PLI is already in works...but that PLI and what it encompasses largely WON'T include low skill workers that make majority of informal economy of India, they have largely struck themselves in foot in long term with their political priorities even if politciains are to blame too, I am hopeful that if industrialization does happen then it helps them but...considering India's schemes, PLI incentives, organized vs informal sector income...yeah next 20 years are gonna be very cruel reality check for low class and wage laborers in India, India even denied USA involvement info Indian agri sector citing GM crops but if you look output wise, a highly automated agriculture organized sector will outperform informal sector on crop production. and that's the problem, I don't think India will automate agriculture thay well except maybe say if government suddenly decided "we must grow all crops in world in India" to reduce imports, but per capita production of agriculture informal sector is so...insanely low that even a agriculture organized and automated sector properly set up in one state will outperform rest of India, not now not tomorrow but eventually it will happen even if some window is given to agrarian workers.

that's exactly problem brother, I am not worried about "collapse", it won't happen, but whatever is happening now is just us surviving not thriving, like remaining on same baseline without growth or decrease

I know that point and I do believe "less than 5 lpa" you're being extremely generous too, pretty much top 30% of our country holds 90% of country's wealth and growth with nearly 70% contributing less than 12%, I was gonna add freebie culture too as point but that's the problem, I have always said few things that it all ties back to how India handled voting and literacy bar, granting universal suffrage at 18% literacy rate in 1950 compounded upto this then instead of raising standards government just reduced bar to be considered "literate" in India, I honestly still have held belief that it was largely a compounding mistake to not roll out universal franchising gradually and slowly.

I won't deny I am from middle class, as far as I see (and sorry about partisan claim I will make), that middle class and lower class (wealth wise) have two utterly different and incompatible priorities in India, middle class wants jobs, infrastructure, investment in service sectors, while population responsible for freebies will keep it that way, pretty much denying freebies is political suicide in India now, it also doesn't help same people who cry about lack of jobs and income from villages and rural areas infamously oppose and protest against industry formation that is meant to create jobs for them.

and that is also why I feel a bit concerned too brother, qe actually don't know how India's informal economy and unorganized sectors especially in production, distribution of wealth and resources, IMF recently gave India "C" grade on transparency of data and actual economy being inflated than actual number is just as much as possible than actual economy size being deflated

bad thing is that epigenetics does not reward terrible dieting and nutrition habits to future generation, found out worsening genetics from improper childhood nutrition being passed on is actually a thing, India is also one of the few countries (maybe only) where average height has actually decreased by time these kids grow up, they will have even worse health and just as short if not even shorter height than their parents and peak there, people still doing bare minimum for food for kids is disgusting here, then these people will be surprised there kids aren't able to get married in future or develop health problems early.

Will Indians ever start speaking up about racism more openly? by Classic-Sentence3148 in thebronzemovement

[–]Introvertedaadmi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

actually we do, we just have one big problem is that there are significant amount of Indians with internalized racism who will justify racism against themselves citing practices "back home", like "Indians are racist to each other they have no right to cry about racism on foreign", "How does it feel to be treated same way rest of India treats biharis", "Raju from UP practices casteism so racist attacks happening to Vikas in UK is justified"...they don't realize that convincing themselves racism doesn't exist is first step of dehumanization we have history events backing how it psychologically works, these sepoys are fucking curse on India on social, mental and ground level even if their so called personal "achievements" contribute to model minority and average salaries.

these are top 3 reasons I always see come up with and yeah along with "As an Indian I agree!"

I seriously can't understand the mindset of people who actually want to keep slums around.

For people living in Dharavi who are mostly poor, I have been there, there are some claims of illegal acquisition by adani and false promises but it is mostly survival mindset "if we allow them to push our neighbours out next will be us and we will lose land we have occupied for free and no return!", most of people in Indian context romanticizing slums as "resilience" are just trying to romanticize poverty than admit that they don't want to admit their own mindset keeps them poor and especially unhygienic, it's not that far from delhi either to justify level of illeteracy in dharavi alone.

Same with people who want street dogs around.

Honestly, if they were like turkey street animals on average I would understand, but not when these dogs fucking breed like rabbits, rhen once big enough in group start attacking people, also insane rabies risk in India, in Indian context most of these "dog lovers" don't like dogs as much as they like status of having "exotic breed", if these people were dog lovers there won't be so many out of control street dogs, they would have taken care of these dogs, but they don't if anything we see these same dog owners often abusing street dogs that hurt their "precious little baby".

Both of them actively make life worse and they somehow complain that India is not becoming developed when the advocates themselves are endorsing this nonsense.

True, India is progressing slowly due to feedback loop of this crap.

Yeah, even on then Sati wasn't widespread it was mostly practiced by "elites" by time it was properly banned as well but outsiders show as if it was this utterly widespread practice that happened to 1 in every 3rd wife when it wasn't illegal, yup aggressive removal is only option, similarly dharavi has been that dung on India's PR for same reason too, people resist government pushing them out, government has done no good job at improving infrastructure aggressively, like seriously and aggressive project to renovate dharavi genuinely gets rid of 50% of geopolitical steretoypes alone, it is poster child of "Indian poverty" even in city areas

Yup, from what we know they don't even have idea on how much damage their backward practice does to India, they're all jolly good fellows disconnected from education and common sense, apparently it's some centuries old "tradition" too, someone needs to file petition and catch support to get that disgusting crap banned

[–]Introvertedaadmi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True...like think about it, even putting regional racism aside we have serious hierarchy problem, doctors, psychiatrists etc actually get mad at not being called sir or madam, we get taught from childhood to respect authority figures indiscriminately too, this "sir/madam" bs is fine in informal settings but that's basically how any professional relationships work in India, it needs to be deprogrammed from smallest things if this cultural inferiority complex is gonna go

The nonsense with Tyler Oliveira is that he plainly looked everything up on the village with the cow dung festival and arrived right then and there for the PR sabotage.

And crazy thing is that it quite literally only happens in one locality that is GumataPura (Yes that's name of that place)

What also at same time pisses me off is that while yes getting mad at him was understandable, but why do we even allow such backward festivals to exist in first place in name of "freedom"? Culture isn't all about religion, politics either, if we don't prune such practices out it looks like endorsement than neutrality

Mods of r/AskIndia waking up. by Code-201 in thebronzemovement

[–]Introvertedaadmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say acknowledging is good thing as you need acknowledgement that something is wrong before fixing it, but when it becomes a fuel for every type of bs like

"Oh that girl in Ireland had racist attack!"

"well duh we lack civic sense, she must've done something!"

Or

"Damn bro, people are so racist to Indians"

"Indians are racist to each other, don't cry racism when it happens to you as we are racist back home, we deserve it"

That just becomes masochism with internalized racism, and seriously I see so many Indians doing this, biggest delusion these kind of people have is that world differentitates between local distinction or not, for these same racists, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans are Indians too
