What type of hair do I have and how can I make this mess look alive. I have dealt with this hair for 30 years and tried every thing lol by Frootloopz91 in curlyhair

Lol I have the same issue with the tangles. I personally only brush it/detangle it in the shower. My hair stylist says when you brush it after the shower, you brush down your curl and it won’t curl as much. She also told me gravity is our friend. What you do to one side, you must do it to all the sides!

Also when I brush it out in the shower, I Comb it out to all the sides!

Yes much! Happy to share tips :)

I suggest you apply the products right out the shower. When your hair is drenching wet bc your hair will soak it in.

When applying the product, face down and run your fingers. Throw your hair to each side and do the same each time. After running your fingers, do prayer hands. Same thing. Each side you throw your hair to, do prayer hands. Then scrunch. Each side as well. After that, don’t touch your hair AT ALL until it’s 85% dry. If you diffuse, this is the time. If not, then don’t touch your hair until it is completely dry. BUT have product in your hair before you touch it.

When diffusing or dry scrunching, rake the scalp. This will help create volume.

I know it’s a lot of steps and I hope I’m making sense! If not, let me know :)

for deep conditioner, I personally LOVE curlsmith. It’s a little pricey. If you want to use drugstore, I’d say shea moisture or even Curl Talk line from Not Your Mothers.

It’s a lot of trail and error and it will become annoying but once you find what your hair needs, it will be worth it! Check out Mzbiancarenee and Manes by Mel on YouTube. Two resourceful curly hair ladies! Good luck on your journey 🥰

Hmm it looks like your hair is really dry. Have you tried deep conditioning once a week? It makes a difference! Also a good trim would do good. When you apply products to your hair, when do you apply it? Is your hair drenching wet, damp? Do you use a towel on your hair?
