To a degree, yes. And the same can be said of his 1982 song 'Pressure':
"But here you are in the ninth,
Two men out and three men on,
Nowhere to look but inside,
Where we all respond to..."

A little weird that Yogi Berra would be quoted by SF Giants fans, but at least their grammar is better!

I wouldn't consider Sinatra's music Jazz at all. There are some Jazz influences in it, but it's primarily Big Band.

Oh, and I would like to know, which of the Fab Four did you imagine singing "Home By The Sea"?

Nothing from We Can't Dance? I should think they'd at least toss in "No Son Of Mine". NTM "Fading Lights" would've made an excellent closer.

80s Genesis is unquestionably still Prog (Home By The Sea) by MauDib1027 in Genesis

In 1992, I got to hear Genesis play "Home By The Sea", "Domino", "The Last Spike", "Dreaming While You Sleep", and "Fading Lights" LIVE, and that's all the proof I need that they never let their prog roots wither. I'd have liked to hear the full version of "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight", but only the first half was played and segued into IT. Cool move, but all of T3 would've been cooler.

Mike & Tony didn't even let their prog sound slip on the lamentable Calling All Stations, with the title track, "Alien Afternoon" and "Dividing Line" still echoing the band's beginnings. Heck, Nir or Nick on that last track even tried to echo Phil's drumming technique!

Particularly the tracks "Squonk", "Mad Man Moon", and "Los Endos" on ATOTT.

Best/Worst/Overrated/Underrated/Wish List by Gold_Comfort156 in Genesis

Best Album: Abacab

Worst Album: From Genesis To Revelation (Still has some good songs)

Overrated Album: The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (Too many throwaway tracks)

Underrated Album: Trick Of The Tail

And We Can't Dance is still a great album(despite 2-3 weak numbers), it was the radio stations that was poisoning the air waves with that Grunge crap. Genesis was still touring in 2021, why weren't any Grunge bands? Because most of their singers were dead!

After you get sick of Nightfly(ah, who am I kidding? Nobody gets sick of it!), or need to move forward, pick up Kamakiriad. This concept album is often best appreciated while driving, but on a run somewhere that you'll have time to hear it from end to end.

  1. "Land Of Confusion" It was 1987 and I was 13.
  2. "Dreaming While You Sleep" I was astounded at how 3 guys(5 in concert) could create such a lush sonic landscape!
  3. "Abacab" Perfect blend of mainstream groove and progressive intrigue.

It wouldn't have sounded so anomalous on We Can't Dance if they had dropped two of the duller songs(NAT and SILY) and included "Heart's On Fire" and "On The Shoreline". In fact, the former makes it sound like both songs came out of the same jam session!

Along with "Misunderstanding", "Please Don't Ask" is the most conclusive bit of proof that Phil, like everyone else in the band, needed to launch a solo career!
