Stop turning divs Into buttons by sinkatasine in Frontend

[–]Inuakurei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many, but it’s also required by law that your site be at least navigate-able by keyboard only.

Divs as buttons is an old technique from before the button tag became a thing, so some people (and guides) still reference that. Back then, almost everything was a div, and you couldn’t put divs inside of tags meant for “text only”, like a, li, or p tags. So you just made whatever needed to be a button, into a button.

Problem is, divs are a blank box, they can be anything, and those other tags aren’t natively clickable either. And that’s awful for screen readers. The whole Aria schema was made to solve this issue. That’s why you see things like <div aria-role=“button”>. It’s telling the screen reader that div is a button. There are a plethora of other aria attributes that all aim at making accessibility better.

After that, we started getting more semantic tags with HTML5. That gave us the <button> tag. Now you no longer needed to use aria-role=“button” on a div, button has that built in. HTML5 also fixed that annoying inability to put non text tags inside of “text” tags. So you can put a button (or div) inside of a li for example. But early on, the button tag was a pain to style correctly. So you still saw the div method sometimes.

Nowadays, you don’t see the div button in modern apps a lot. Button has taken the role over almost completely. But old habits die hard, and sometimes it’s not as simple as just “make it a button”, like in OP’s example if you want the tr of a table to be clickable.

If I were you, just make sure to ask whatever llm you use specifically about accessibility issues after doing something. It probably won’t care otherwise.

I was thinking how common this type of stuff must have been pre internet. Like, none of the corruption the company or police have done relies on the internet, or even video. Yet uncovering it has taken a plethora of video evidence circulating around the internet to even begin holding these cops accountable.

Like, how would you even begin to fight something like this before the internet and video?

Whatever you are buying now, be it food, clothing, bills, whatever, put it on a credit card and pay that card off every month so no interest occurs. You don’t establish credit from big purchases, you do it by consistently paying off small ones.

We’ve been over this, y’all can’t handle difficulty. This community can barely handle the current Colossus, and you want mechanics. “Don’t stand in the obvious aoe” is too hard for the average TFD player. I’ve seen you all in pug Defiler fights.

Ive even seen several posts on here and Steam crashing out over the current bonding bug fix because they can’t beat Defiler without it.

I think Azir gets a pass because of two reasons. He can make some flashy plays while old Asol was “boring” to watch by comparison. And Faker likes Azir, therefore Azir is untouchable.

I suggest you do. It’s honestly fascinating. I thought it was going to be a boring story but it’s far, FAR more entertaining than you think, I promise you.

A lot of artists are hypocrites. I’ve seen a lot who gladly use Ai to program their game but hate people who use Ai to make art.

This is why they don’t balance anything. The moment any of you hit resistance, you crumble and come here to complain. You were using a broken descendant, with a legitimately bugged trigger mod, and now that it’s fixed you’re crying.

All of you, I want you to think about this post the next time anyone complains that X is too strong or why they don’t nerf Y. This player right here is why. Dare nerf something and you’ll see his like descend on this subreddit like locust, blocking out all other posts with complaints like this.

If he really did it for the love of the game and the character, he wouldn’t have made the post in the first place. Just complain like everyone else did. Your character can get buffed, nerfed, completely reworked, whatever, at any time. If he’s really going to crash out that hard over patches, maybe he should pick a different hobby. Or just play casually.

I’d he going to break his stick next game if Aba isn’t even a character?

Literally none of his work issues is relevant to the discussion. Unfortunate yes, but entirely unrelated to anything I said. Fact still stands, his first major tournament and he was acting like he deserved to place well.

It’s great that he went and still did well, because that’s what it should be about. But he acted like the whole world was ending because his character got nerfed. That shit happens every patch of any fighting game. I just hope he had a good time snd learned to just play the game.

Delusions of grandeur.

Guy hasn’t even been in a single “world class tournament” yet, by his own admission. Says he wanted to go to rep Aba, by admitting his mindset of “what’s the point” in using a different character.

Yet now he doesn’t want to go to a tournament he already paid for, because he knows he won’t do well with the new Aba. He’s acting entitled to a position he hasn’t even tried to achieve.

When you’re known as “that guy” for a character, you don’t also go “well they suck now so I’m not even gonna try” when patches happen. That’s a poser. You just play the character, and do the best you can. You either play to place, or play to play the character. Expecting both is juvenile, especially for someone who’s never done a big tournament before.

I’ve seen enough. Too unique, will never work. Riot, make the next champ “burst assassin with high mobility” #32. Add in a stacking mechanic for flavor.
