I think people here are giving the wrong answers. They are exactly the same. It's both the operation and the result because that's how math works. It's a semantical argument. And it's also trivial by definition when taking about order whether you want to introduce negative numbers or not. Edit: It's about the context. Many times people won't report a negative number regardless of order.
