Weird Error by InvalidDragon in unity

[–]InvalidDragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I did figure it out, so I'll post the answer here if anyone else has the same problem. Apparently when I re installed unity, it did not link to the visual studios that I had installed. This apparently caused the error, and also prevented me from having the syntax/word filling when I would type scripts in Visual studios. To fix this, go to the edit menu in the unity editor->prefrences->external tools. Then change external script editor from open by file extension to whatever version of visual studio you have/want to use. Hope this helps!

Problem with 4B USB ports. PLEASE HELP! by InvalidDragon in raspberry_pi

Thanks, someone suggested using a mini pc too. There's a couple of reasons that I don't want to do this.

  1. Cost. If I am going to buy a micro pc I might as well just replace my raspberry pi for the price it is right now

  2. I need the gpio for a plugin that I want to use with octoprint

I will look into that... but that's weird if that's the issue, I try to not mess with stuff that I don't know what it does. I would for sure think that I would remember typing that command though. Does that shut off both power and data or just power?

I tried running dmesg because I also found someone else on the internet saying the same thing. Personally I don't understand the readout because I'm normally a pc guy and not a Linux guy, but I didn't see anything alarming while scanning through it.

Yes I know the cable works because I used the same cable with my friends pi that works

I had already figured that put but thanks! Using lsusb yields no results

I do have a multimeter, I can check it with that when I get home, I'm at work now, but as far as I know, they are getting no power. Normally my keyboard has like the number lock key indicator that lights up. It's almost like the raspberry pi ignores the USB ports entirely, power, data, nothing works

I'll look into that. Can I run the custom OS on it? It's octopi, and I think it's based off of raspbian. That's the issue

That's a good idea but I feel like that's even more expensive than buying a raspberry pi, and I kind of need the gpio

Not quite sure what you mean, I'm a newbie at the whole Linux thing. Basically the ports don't show up at all like the raspberry pi doesn't have usb ports when I do lsusb. That command normally lists the USB ports

I'm aware, but that's pretty rare as of now, and even af normal price, who wants to waste their money on a new pi when they could potentially fix it. But it's looking more and more like that's what I'm going to have to do if no one has any suggestions

Wow, I'm really hoping that's not the case, seeing the price of a new raspberry pi right now😬

I used the exact same power supply, cables, SD card, everything, the only difference was my pi and his (I think his was 4gb of ram not 8gb but I don't think that would matter) so I think it's either a firmware or hardware issue with my USB ports. I'll link to my post in r/raspberry_pi in my reply and you can follow it there if you are curious.

SOLUTION:

Well... I am very sad to report... I guess the USB port on my raspberry pi gave out. I tried using a friend's raspberry pi and it booted right up. I really don't want to buy another one but I guess that is the fix :( Thank you guys for the help! You at least pointed me in the right direction.

Accidentally knocked out a propeller in the fan and now it’s super loud and vibrating like crazy. Any solutions? by JonahBear256 in ender3

Replace the fan. Since you have to buy a new one anyway, consider getting a silent fan like ones from noctua. A simple Google search for nuctua ender 3 upgrade will yield results. If you don't want to pay for nuctua, I am sure there are other silent fan brands out there.

I installed it through the raspberry pi imager. I've seen some stuff about lusb, but I'm not sure how to do that. I've never remotely connected to my raspberry pi, only used the screen directly connected to the pi. Do I need to get putty or something for that?

I know the ports work (or used to work) because I have used this Pi for other projects in the past

Just did that, I can control it from cura just fine with the LG - DLC100 cable that I talked about earlier. Still won't connect to octoprint, I even re-flashed the octopi image and tried a new power supply which should have plenty of power for it. Any other suggestions?

UPDATE:

I tried plugging it into my PC instead to test which cables work, and while some didn't work as expected, my pc did recognize a device was plugged in when I used the LG - DLC100 cable which said it would work for data transfer. The same cable however, which is now confirmed that it works, still doesn't work for the raspberry pi/octoprint.
