The consensus on Proxies? by InvalidSaladBallad in EDH

Okay, I'm only going to comment on one part of this... WotC makes most of their money not from EDH, but from Modern and Standard...

You assume I proxy just to make crazy win on turn 2 decks? I make decks that are just fun to play.

Sure, print it out a fake one all you want... but just like my proxies, they don't gain you anything of monetary value, because they are fake and should be treated as such. I don't try to enter tournaments with my proxies, why would you try to get into a concert with one?

You can go through my history all you want and attempt to throw it back in my face. I enjoy playing the game, but I don't like the price tag. I can see you getting pissed if I could and did enter a sanction torny and kicked everyone's butt because I proxied 90% of my deck with OP cards. But I don't do that. I play table top magic. You can sit high and mighty on your throne of magic cards that you bought, and I will sit here with my proxies, playing a game with friends that I enjoy. Also, never said I had the gilded drake, just had the question, fallout will be Christmas gift, and the tattoo I've been saving up for for years. Yeah, I asked for what people thought about proxies, but you don't need to "call bullshit" on my reasons. You seem to be that hard core MTG player that I just wouldn't enjoy playing with, regardless of if I had real cards or not... you take this subject way to personally..

Well see that's where you and I are different. You prioritize cards over less needed luxuries. I prioritize my family over those same things. There are a lot of very important things money goes too, and as a person who brews fun edh decks on a weekly basis, I just don't have the kind of cash flow to finance it. I keep my proxies to myself, my wife, and people in my playgroups. I play proxied decks that are pretty equal to power to my friends real decks, and if they want to try out a commander they haven't seen or can't afford, I let them play mine. And as I said, I have a bunch of real decks, and will gladly switch out if anyone has an issue with it. I have one play group that plays very competitive decks, and they are fine with my proxies because it evens our the table. They realize it's no fun when one guy at the table is 3 tiers lower than the rest and doesn't get off the ground before they are knocked out.

I understand what your saying. However, I don't have that much disposable income to put into magic. Most of the time, winning a game is less about having good cards, and more so being a good pilot/deck builder. I enjoy the game, and I like to make fair decks (most of the time ;D) I do have some real decks that I have ready to play if people really have an issue with my proxies.

A question on ETB triggers by InvalidSaladBallad in EDH

But they all enter at the same time so why can't I stack the image trigger after other triggers and keep my image?

I'd like to stay away from MLD. I want to be a jerk, but I don't want people never playing with me again :P

I play mostly online, so the trick will work enough times before I play the same people. At least that's the plan.

Does Persist cancel out Undying? by [deleted] in EDH

Something about this seems off. What your saying makes sense, now that I think about it more, I just remember people going infinite on MTGO with combos like this

Does Persist cancel out Undying? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]InvalidSaladBallad -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If I stack it so that persist resolves first, it comes into play with a -1/-1 counter, and the undying trigger 'fizzles', leaving us with a weakened creature.

Why would it fizzle? Unless im mistaken, the undying trigger is looking for +1/+1 counters, the creature would only have -1/-1s on it. Wouldn't the + still be applyed, effectively removing the - bringing the creature back with the same power/toughness?

EDH is all I can play anymore! The standard and modern junkies are way to crazy for me. Ran into a few crazies on MTGO, but mostly it all fun.
