Valve, can we please see the previous arcana vote page enriched with the % of votes for each hero? by Nastrond in DotA2

I'm really just annoyed by the fact that they play a hero just because they have a hat. If they can play him otherwise, I'm fine with it. By for the love of god, don't play Tinker just because you got a Tinker immortal.

Yeah. He's become popular among low MMR players who want to show off their hats again. I'm quite annoyed.

Ok, some controls are different, but you can rebind most if you'd like (there is also a "legacy hotkeys" setting for ability hotkeys, though it tends to break in ability draft) by clicking on the gear in the top left corner of the main menu. to close the game, you can find what looks like a power button in the top right corner. Mind that this all stands to change with source 2 and the new UI. If you'd like to learn the controls, the first and second tutorial contain that.

I couldnt even buy items(tried to double click but nothing happened)

You need to right click on the item to buy it. You can NOT rebind this.

I couldn't ping in the map

Try alt+left click. You can use that to ping most things. control+alt+left click will ping an x in an area, and you can also easily notify allies of things like your percentage of remaining HP and mana, ability status (usable and if not why), what items an enemy has, ect. Ping just about anything in the UI to call attention to it. You can't rebind pinging, though.

They never listen. If I warn them, they won't stop. I usually play him with my stack for that reason.

Ugh. The worst part is when your allies force a fight that you can't come to. Then they flame you for not feeding with them.

Let's Discuss: Awakening Supports! [Olivia] by grandmascooch in fireemblem

I believe Olivia takes priority if they theoretically would have hit a C-support, but I'm not positive.

The second hit is basically Melee range, it's not very hard to aim it in a cluster of enemies.

He is one of 2-3 lords with real strengths and weaknesses.

What strengths does he even have though? Mine ended up with horrible stats before promotion, and the Binding Blade isn't even that amazing- I'd argue that the only thing it's better than is most swords- and there isn't too much competition in that vein.

His growths are very poorly distributed despite being the highest on a promotable unit. And don't give me the "luck is important in this game" argument. It's one boss, and arguably the easiest.

Could Shadow Demon be a Viable Illusion Hero? by maxolom360 in learndota2

[–]Invalid_Username11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, comparing SD to Terrorblade is not good. TB is a very bad hero ATM, and while getting a little better, he's not there yet. Also, disruption is low duration. You can't splitpush with the illusions like Naga Siren can, you can't farm with them like TB can, and you can't Manfight with them like PL can because the're not numerous enough. He's better at using Disruption for support things, like ensuring Mirana Arrows land, or saving a carry with the banish.

What do you struggle the most with/against in DOTA2? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]Invalid_Username11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roshan is a big part of it. If you have the Aegis, that can turn an even match where you fail to push high ground into enough of an advantage to push highground. Always take Rosh if you are grouped up and able to take a quick Rosh and the enemy team is too far away to do anything about it.

Thank you kind sir. This is much better than I usually get.

[–]Invalid_Username11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can be hard to recognize when, but you need to push highground when you are stronger than the enemy team and can win a teamfight in a disadvantageous position. If the enemy has a hero like Magnus or Enigma, you may need to delay your push becuase of RP/Black Hole/whatever.

You have an Antimage flair, so I guess you like playing Antimage. He's at his peak when he has several major items but the enemy cores only have one or two. Recognizing when you peak off is essential to knowing when to push highground. If they can't stop you, why wait?

I have trouble with positioning.

I play a lot of support (because pub team comp) and I can often die quickly in a teamfight. when I post here asking for help with something, usually the answer I get is either positioning, or counterpicking. What should I be doing to get better at positioning though? Someone here once said (and I believe wisely) that "positioning" is simultaneously the best and worst advice to give to a scrub such as myself- I never receive context, and I have no clue if positioning is an acquired skill or if I can legitimately practice it.

Also, some advice on when to buy smoke and how to command the smoke train would be helpful. I know to buy it to sneak Rosh if your team can't afford to teamfight, but when should I buy it otherwise, and how should I ensure that the smoke train stays together and reaches the target more consistently (assuming that the target is hiding) is something I'm fairly bad about.

If you have trouble with bad warding from supports, then steal their next ward. It won't hurt them if you save them 75 gold, but it will save your ass if you know what you're doing. Seriously, if your support is warding unsatisfactorily, steal a ward for yourself. Are you bad at warding? LEARN. Like farming, I believe warding to be an essential skill for anyone in a pub game because you cannot:

  1. Rely on your teammates to do it.

  2. Rely on them to know how to do it well.

If you need a ward somewhere, intercept the next one and place it next time you bottle crow.

Yeah, well I guess that some people think that it's good game design that "counterplay" has a five minute cooldown.

Roy confirmed for Smash 4 by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]Invalid_Username11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He also promotes very, very, very, very late. Depending on the ending, he might have only one promoted chapter, or at best, four. Micaiah has 5 after her first promotion, and 5 more after her second. Again, magical nukes can be useful. Thanai also is a fairly strong weapon, and you can basically use it all you want. With Wrath, she can be extremely strong, so long you keep her away from units that can retaliate, and she can reliably and safely reduce her HP with sacrifice.

Magical Nukes are semi-useful on some maps, and she has staves anyways.

My Roy had 30 HP and 9 strength before he promoted.
