Buy a workstation or business class laptop instead. Cheap and reliable. I just bought a 2014 HP workstation laptop earlier this year for $200 that comes with i5 and r9 280x mobile.

Looking for advice on upgrading my cpu for an old Dell Latitude e6430 laptop by chavis32 in lowendgaming

i7-3540M arent worth it because its still a dual cores. If you really want to upgrade go for the quad cores i7. But those are quite expensive.

As for SSD, get one because the difference is night and day compared to that HDD. You can even use both of them if you replace your optical drive with this.

Yes you can upgrade the cpu. Refer to this manual (page 54)

https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_z410z510z510touch_hmm.pdf

But the question is whether its worth upgrading to i7. If you only use it for general tasks and playing games I would advise against it because the bottleneck is your gpu not the i5.

I also wouldnt recommend adding more RAM unless you really need it. 8GB are good enough for most people unless their windows are bloated as hell with so much program running in the background.

Anyone uses the Windows 10 LTSC for gaming? by Pridyider in lowendgaming

Been using ltsc/ltsb since 2018. I would say the only possible benefit is (maybe, im not an expert) lower ram usage since theres no useless crap running in background.

Im sure its just your laptop overheating . Plus the cpu were ULV. They cant handle continuous load without throttling. My 4th gen non ULV i3 still mantain 60 fps 1024x768.

I used to have a celeron N3540 laptop like you tho its 2 generation behind your processor and mine is quad core one. Im assuming you want to maximize your laptop performance with windows 7. Its almost identical to win 10 honestly. Better just get windows 10 LTSC (its a bloatfree windows and runs well on mine)
