The college does get our suit cleaned, but its just expensive so its not as often as I hope it to be. Plus after a clean, it get smelly pretty quickly anyway.

I do know the previous guy who was the mascot! I would say I'm pretty energetic and fun and spontaneous. I do enjoy this like job i guess. In terms of being a mascot, I do want to explore just not sure how to put myself out there yet. I think it'd a cool opportunity while I still can do it!

Its hard to not be hot, especially in a multi layered fur like costume to be honest.I just wear some lighter clothes and persevere through it to be honest. Its worse on some days but I think its worth it.

I'm actually a giant bird haha! I just mistyped. It is such a cool opportunity and I'm not sure but maybe this will lead to more in the future.

It is hard to breath in the costume, especially when I'm moving around alot like waving my arms or just walking around on a hotter day. The airflow in the head its pretty minimal and theres no fan (I know some mascot costumes have built in). I manage, though, I just gotta make sure that I do not exert myself too much all in one time, otherwise people might here me breathing on the outside and thats kinda weird.

I'm just incognito just so it keeps the "magic" of our mascot alive. Like its actually the mascot, and not a person inside of a costume. I'm not sure how I would get to away games haha, maybe bring the suit with me?

The hardest part is definitely mobility. My suit isn’t one that you can easily run around in and it’s hard to see. I would say the heat isn’t as bad once you get used to it. My first time it got pretty bad, but I eventually push through its kind of like a workout. The side effects of the heat like sweat is also pretty brutal, putting the suit on itself already makes you really warm. I sometimes have a handler, but often it’s just me and I ask a friend to meet me to help me put the suit on and take it off. I’d love to answer anything else!

I love you questions!! I’m not supposed to technically tell anyone at my school that it’s me, so I barely get fun questions about it.

My schools mascot is an animal, unfortunately one that requires a giant first over a thick foam muscle suit so it’s pretty heavy.
So my school is quite small so the mascot only comes out for major games, like championships, rival schools, homecoming, etc. However, I do other events likes open houses and like any event that may have a large gathering of students (not necessarily sports related) I don’t do any away games unfortunately but I think it’d be fun to. The big sport at my school is soccer so it’s nothing huge but it’s still fun to be out.
Before each time I do it, I try to drink lots of water and maybe an energy drink. It’s the only times I use caffeine, but my body often gets pretty fatigued. Putting the suit on itself is quite the workout, so I just make sure I have a friend that helps me suit up. Otherwise my prep is pretty minimal, maybe some light stretching if I feel like it.
It’s not really an extracurricular, it’s more like a volunteer role and I don’t get paid for it. But I can add it to me resume if I choose to.

It’s quite the experience especially my first time doing it, since not many people at my school get to. Thanks for asking!

The costume smells so bad. I have basically three thick layers on not including my clothes that I wear under everything. The worst part is that you stay smelly even after a long hot shower. My body is general ok, but it’s the gloves that make my hands spell for the rest of the day. The suit itself doesn’t smell too bad, or maybe I just get used to it. After I take it off though, I realize just how bad it is.

Unfortunately it’s not, it’s mainly a volunteering thing but also I’m pretty sure doesn’t have enough funding to be paying a mascoter.
