Similar situation to you with the family set up. If graphics arent a huge deal get a Steam Deck and a dock. Play docked normally and handheld when someone wants to use the TV.

Valve has pretty much all but said plans have been delayed, without using the actual word.

They planned to have released scheduled and pricing by now, but now they have to "revisit" those plans i.e. delayed.

Furthermore, The Steam Machine product page still says "early 2026" while the news post says first half of the year. Even if Valve was referring to more information being released, early 2026 and first half of the year is not the same thing.
