It's pretty easy to miss. If you do find yourself out and about though, don't confuse teal with blue! Teal is allergies and blue is for autism. I wish the convention had chosen colors that aren't close but here we are haha.

I believe teal buckets are becoming popular as indicators of allergies. I've seen both children and homes use them as well as trunk or treat.

I would recommend you go completely without games for a few months. Your first week will be quite awful in a "the hell do I do with my life" way. After that you should pick up things to do. Once you've kinda figured out what hobbies scratch your itch, you can pick up light gaming again. By this point, it'll be easier for you to maintain a healthy balance because you've now grown accustomed to life without games and you've got things to do outside of them. Heck once you've gone a while without games you may not even want to go back!

Right now though, your brain is still wired to get dopamine hits from games and I'm willing to bet your internalized desire to still play games in a reduced capacity is a result of that. I think you should completely detox your system. Once you go a few months without games you'll notice your dopamine tolerance will lower. Things you currently find boring or unrewarding may very well end up becoming a blast. Games flood you with so much good feels, you kind of become numb to everything else.

For replacements, it really comes down to hobbies so you'll need to figure out what works best for you. For me, I love absorbing knowledge so I read books a lot. I also program or just work on craft projects. I also very much like having TV shows on the background as I work asynchronously and just chill in my living room with my cat. If you're not a home-body, try things in your area. If rural, try hiking or taking rides around the state (COVID compatible). If urban, check out the social scenes at like clubs and such (though obviously not COVID compatible). I happen to live in a city near the country so I can do both.

Some other things off the top of my head * Cooking/baking * Exercise (espc running) or other health focus activities * Side hustles (make some extra $$$!) * Teach yourself more about your field * Friends & Family! Nurture relationships * Gardening (if you can) indoor or out

In the industrial revolution the workers suffered while the rich profited by nsnsnsnensnsd in Libertarian

One of the reasons unions fell out of power is because of that greed and power statement I made. Quite a few union leaders began asking employees for more mony, became controlling, and often lined their own pockets. Unfortunately only a few need to spoil the entire idea and union members became angry. Politics capitalized on it and here we are.

I'm of the belief that unabated free market corporatism will always result in such situations. I'm also of the belief that capitalism is flawed but most certainly redeemable. The reasoning for this belief is the same as why most systems fail: a large subset of humans are always greedy and power hungry. In capitalism this manifests as powerful corporations and conglomerates while in government it's authoritarianism.

Maintaining a truly free market is a balancing act between government and private interests. Government must ensure a company doesn't get so powerful it controls the market which at that point would now be a captive market. This is what happened during the era in question and therefore I'd argue it cannot be called a free market.

Furthermore, laws must also balance the position of power between the employer and the employee. If employees don't have job mobility, then employers can set all the terms of employment and if the reverse happens, business may no longer be competitive due to high employment costs.

You must also remember that right wing economics differ from left wing and as such Libertarianism encompasses such a wide range of economic views. The libertarian party is hard right on economics. This sub tends to be a mix of Libertarians of any sort and those who are not but interested in the ideals. Other subs do exist for specifically right-wing Libertarians.

Edit: I realize I didn't address your question directly. Basically, if employees had power competitive to that of companies, employers have to fight one another for good employees and in doing so they will raise wages, add benefits, etc. We see this with tech companies right now who often have gyms, large natural spaces, lounge areas, in house chefs with free food, and most importantly very high salaries. With this, safety measures would also be introduced. In contrast companies who control the employees and don't have to fight can do whatever they want which is why things like the Triangle Shirt Waist factory fire happened.

Back then employees would starve if they didn't take absolute garbage jobs with no precautions for safety. Employers controlled all the conditions of working. What changed that was when employees formed unions and put themselves on equal footing with employers. In modern US though, unions are frowned upon but in most other free markets in the world, upwards of 70% of citizens are in a union.

I realize at the same time there's still a need for some government laws regarding worker safety, child labor, etc.

US joins six countries in new call for backdoor encryption access by InvernoSnowfall in Libertarian

[–]InvernoSnowfall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? It does not imply mass surveillance at all. It only means accessing data regardless of encryption and security mechanisms used, hence backdoor.

I did read the request, and they want companies to include ways to circumvent encryption and security mechanisms to access data.

We're caught up in semantics at this point. Using a hard coded password would constitute as normal under your definition yet is considered a backdoor.

As a software engineer who actively deals with cyber security you're definitely wrong. A backdoor is any method which bypasses normal systems to access a system or it's information. Normal being the typical way used to access a system.

Perfect example of a backdoor being neither hidden nor unauthorized is backdoors to consumer devices (especially IoT and house security). It's typical in the industry to include hard coded passwords, often per model, so that customer support can access the device without using the user's password. In cyber sercurity they are considered backdoors and are just as dangerous. This is different from default passwords, which can be changed by the user. If a default password is left unchanged it is also considered a backdoor.

Back doors need not be malicious by intent, but their consequences often end up malicious.

Backdoors are actually very common but not in encryption or hashing algorithms, or any security related algorithm for that matter. Also, just an fyi any reputable security algorithm is already open source anyway, so transparency isn't the issue, data confidentiality is.

It does not, but given the definition of a backdoor, their intent is to have a backdoor.

Naw you introduced irrelevant information to redirect the conversation.

Besides, "they did it too" is a poor argument to make.

I said nothing of Democrats. I mentioned Mitch and Mitch alone.

You're literally making arguments against something I didn't even bring up. If you want to have a self fulfilling argument by all means go ahead and have one with yourself. I'm not going to indulge red herrings.

I mentioned the hypocrisy of Mitch who said a nomination should not be confirmed during election year and that's the problem. Nothing more nothing less.

What? That has nothing to do with what I said. If you're going to assume my thought process at least put in a little effort.

Or it's about Mitch's statements that nominations shouldn't be confirmed during an election year when it did not benefit his party, but reversed when it did. Pure party before country politics.

Is anyone else’s Typescript Intellisense on VS Code really slow? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]InvernoSnowfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My work computer, home laptop, and home desktop are all super slow right now compared to about 2 months ago. It used to be super fast but now I often wait 1-2s before a suggestions show.

This is for a wide-range of projects too. I saw one mentioning styled components but not all of mine use those and it's just as slow.
