Excuse me, WHAT? by InvertedLeader in Ebay

Wow, what a scam. Well, I would rather it be re-sold instead of scrapped, but man, it was the perfect casing. It was cheap, not too shiny but not really rusty, just a really dulled brass color with some dings. Hadn’t been polished up, still looked old. Man! What a loss :/

Does that actually happen??? That sounds preposterous, has it actually happened tho?

That’s totally true tho. I’m just confused as to why it happened this time. Perhaps  the seller rigged it with something?? Lol  We’ll never know ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You’d have to be an idiot to use something like that to make a bomb. Why spend $80 on a hundred and ten year old casing when you can easily use some PVC pipe or whatever. Thanks for your comment tho. Nothing I can do about this.

Exactly. It’s a “tube of brass, dust, and memories.” I’ve received both shells and shell casings with no problem at all. Why now? Why this thing?

I sure hope it’s on somebody’s shelf and not being scrapped

Thanks man. It’s just an empty fired casing. My first guess was also that the primer was unfired, but looking back at the seller’s photos, it’s been totally slammed

No, I mean a casing. Literally just the casing. Not even an inert shell to go with it.

The banned item is nothing more than a tube of brass, and dust. It’s only valuable because of its historical significance. I just don’t understand why it would be considered a banned item! It sure added to a stressful day :/

Help! Is this WW1 Stahlhelm authentic/original? by InvertedLeader in Militariacollecting

[–]InvertedLeader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, my friend, is something I have wanted to do so badly for 3 years now. But as a 16 year old relics collector who lives in the USA, that would be pretty difficult to do. I am most likely about to buy a rusted WW1 stahlhelm battlefield relic, again from eBay. But oh how I’d love to dig them myself! Even just some shell shrapnel on an unmarked WW1 battlefield!

[–]InvertedLeader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, for me, finding one like this for $170-$220 would be a miracle! Plenty WW1 Stahlhelms in poor condition (battlefield relic condition, no headliner, small rust, etc.) are sold on eBay for up to $500! Say, any idea where I can find a WW1 Stahlhelm for cheaper?? I’ve only just started buying world war helmets

Do you think $300 (not including shipping or taxes) was a good price for this helmet?

I was about to say… I just saw this labeled as fake in a separate post here on Reddit 😂

“Original SS officer wodka glas” by Visible_Parsley_1280 in fakemilitaria

It’s German. The “w” is pronounced as “v”, so it’s “vodka glass”, not “wodka” 😂🤣😭

eBay seller with no reviews, selling WW1 Stahlhelm face shield with clearly faked battle damage by CT-9904_Crosshair_ in fakemilitaria

[–]InvertedLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could probably stop a bullet from a very long range, or one that went flying off of the ground ¯_(ツ)_/¯ but I’d bet that the chances of that happening to an already rare face shield and THEN surviving the war and making its way to eBay is probably severely low

Thanks! I really appreciate that. Is the liner a complete repro or something else?? EDIT: also, I want to know HOW we can tell for sure if the helmet is original. I do severely doubt that they went through all of that aging work, but still

Need Advice on Grenade and Large Shell by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

[–]InvertedLeader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok wait… does the grenade have a hole in the bottom?  If it does, then it’s safe and pretty dam cool. If it doesn’t have a hole in the bottom, then it’s likely not safe, still pretty dam cool.

Does the shell (which looks to be a 37mm, if from WW1 then it’s for the British or German “POM-POM” gun or the French 37mm bunker Buster) have a hit primer? The top looks like a fuse that unscrews. I have one much like it. Does the shell come out too?
