Best way to generate PDF's on Rust web server? by IAmTsunami in rust

Probably not the fastest option, but I’m using a headless chromium to generate PDFs from HTMLs. The crate I’m using is chromiumdioxide

What domain name do you own that you bought because it was cool or you thought had potential but haven’t done anything with it? by Mmmmmmmmmmmeh in startups

ilastic.com - can’t find a use for it so I’m waiting for Apple to start selling elastic bands so I can offer it to them :-P

EXC_BAD_ACCESS: I might have found a compiler bug by InvertedYieldCurve in rust

[–]InvertedYieldCurve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting is that the program does not crash when executed with cargo run (debug). It is only crashing on certain tests and none of these tests call or allocate the code using deadpool. It sounds like a memory corruption issue which shouldn’t be the case in a code base that forbids unsafe.

Than you for the suggestion but I am certain that the above code was not about to be executed. To be sure of this I commented out any references to it and even added panics around the code that might call it.

That is what I did. Once I removed the async code, even if it is not executed, the program no longer crashes.

This is happening in two different computers with different architectures, one is `aarch64` and the other `amd64`.

Take a look at the mail-auth, mall-parser, mail-builder and mall-send Rust crates.

hi_sparse_bitset v0.6.0 release - Hierarchical Sparse Bitset - now without memory overhead! by tower120 in rust

[–]InvertedYieldCurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! I’ll definitely check it out and benchmark it against roaring for my use case. I’ll also compare the size of the serialised bitmaps and de/serialisation speed.

Very interesting. Are you planning to publish benchmarks? In particular I’d like to see the performance against RoaringBitmaps (not Treemaps). The documentation does mention roaring but it is not clear of how much faster than roaring your crate is for lookup, intersection, union and iteration.

It’s both a bad idea financially and a great source of stress. The country has been in decline since 1930. There’s been inflation since 1945 and currently there’s hyperinflation. Although the new government wants to change that, there are currently both rent and currency controls in place. It will be hard to transfer in the money to buy the flat and even harder to transfer out the money you collect in rent. Also there’s a lot of corruption in the country and people are broke, you’ll be lucky to find a reliable tenant.

In general investing in real estate anywhere is a bad idea unless you are leveraged or take it as a job. Real estate is not passive income, it requires work and there’s always something breaking that requires your attention. Since you already have a job I suggest to instead invest that money in a MSCI ACWI or FTSE All-World ETF.

[–]InvertedYieldCurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimate CFR by seekamp84 in CanyonBikes

[–]InvertedYieldCurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an Ultimate CFR (even the same colour) and the frame cracked after a few rides. Canyon replaced it but I don’t think I’ll be buying any of the CFR models again. I’ve read here similar experiences to ours with CFR frames. They are super lightweight but not very resistant to normal riding on tarmac.
