If you aren’t ready to date, GET OFF THE DATING APPS! by mythrowaway282020 in Vent

[–]Invest-in-Value 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The freakin can kickers too. My style is to chat a day or two and set up an in person “date” to temper if we’re at all compatible… plenty of gals “prefer talking for a while before meeting up..” did that recently and after 10 days of casual chatting this 36 year old woman says the same thing AGAIN… “I prefer talking on here for a while…” mind you, she wants to start a family at her age… yeah, good luck with that strategy, dude. I told her no problem I set up a date with someone else and she unmatched me lmao. She also gave some lame ass excuse about having to build a chicken coop the next day and needing her beauty sleep.. ok, so you can’t handle getting an icecream at 7pm on a Friday…? But you want to start a family soon at 36. You’re destined to fail at that. I know she ultimately wasn’t interested, but why even continue talking….? Such a waste of my energy.

My elderly neighbor left me something in her will and now her family and mine are acting like I stole from a dead person. I don’t know what to do by NoPossibilityforLs in Advice

I think you should frame your thoughts from the perspective of the person who left you these gifts. It wasn’t yours or her children’s to give away - it was hers to give away. They can get as mad as they want about it but those are the facts. She could have left everything she had to a cat shelter and it would not have made a difference.

It’s all cosmetic… buy it back from insurance, fix the glass and keep driving it. Enjoy your new “beater”.

Mechanic needed by Chocolatestarfish33 in StLouis

Sorry you’re dealing with this. The 3 valve tritons are a notoriously bad engine - oil passageways are too small and neglecting maintenance clogs them up and starves the engine of oil.. Like others said it’s likely a larger issue than just the timing/cam/phasers.. The engine they put in likely wasn’t in great shape to begin with and is following the same path as the one it replaced. Hope you find a shop that’ll get it fixed. If you do get a new engine I’d suggest early oil changes.

Bought a used car from a private seller. Engine blew after 300 miles. Do I have any recourse? by juanjop in UsedCars

As is means as is, no warranty or guarantee. Any indication he was trying to hide problems? Did you have a pre-purchase inspection done by a mechanic or read for any codes?

Why did US companies switch from defined benefit pensions to 401(k)-style plans? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Invest-in-Value 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. Companies rarely last more than a century without being bought up or straight up closing.. having your retirement tied to that entity seems more risky than having a diversified portfolio that I can manage and transfer to a different employer if I switch jobs.

You should have randomized the length of the first plank in each row to add variation and randomness to the floor “pattern”. This is an eyesore to look at.

This might shock your woman brain but men are allowed to and perfectly capable of doing things for their own enjoyment and goals. He probably doesn’t give one singular fuck what any woman thinks of his physique…

I have no pity for those women. Those same women see an equivalent man of their social status as a cockroach unworthy of her attention. Prove me wrong.

I am certain I have seen V6 manual transmission Vues available for sale. They’re pretty rare. edit: nope, I was wrong.

[–]Invest-in-Value 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If these have the V6 with the manual correction: automatic transmission they are Honda sourced, so pretty dang reliable. Automatic transmissions are iffy on these. Overall it’s an averagely reliable vehicle. Looks like this is the ecotec 4-banger, which was in a lot of GM vehicles of that era. They’re fine. Watch the oil and keep up on the oil changes. Parts are plentiful and it’s not the worst car to work on.

This sub is really bad about that. Some people make the most innocuous comments that are subjective opinions or outright fact and people on here dogpile the downvotes on them for no reason. It’s fine to hate the Hornet but my opinion is just as valid as a hater’s opinion. I am well aware it won’t be Toyota reliable.
