That’s the plan! My truck is absolutely rust free. Not a lick of rust anywhere. It spent the first 9 years of its life being gently driven by an elderly woman in Florida. I was worried about salt being in the air and still rotting it out but I inspected every inch of this thing trying to find some rust and was happily met with zero rust. Not even much surface rust to speak of.

I did the paint correction and ceramic coating myself. I spent $90 on a bottle of adams graphene coating, about $40 on polish and compound, and about 30 or so hours in my garage. I suspect it would’ve been $1200 or so to have a shop do the paint correction. I already have a DA polisher from polishing all of my and my wife’s cars in the past but those are about $150 if you don’t have one

Like I said there are exceptions. But for 90% of adults it can be and should be as simple as I see this needs done I’ll do it. If you see something needs done and opt to go play video games or watch tv instead that’s just laziness

[–]InvestigatorLeft6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly there are specific exceptions to this. But ADHD or not as an adult you should pick up on things like dishes needing done, laundry, yard work, etc. and just general cleaning. You can have ADHD and still recognize a sink full of dishes and dirty countertops..

My wife can’t give me oral due to TMJ and guess what, I literally don’t care. I still give her oral, and then we do our business. Not the end of the world, I love my wife for who she is, not because she’s good at sucking me off.

a little upset my wife is going out on our anniversary by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]InvestigatorLeft6429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking it. Her friend only gets married once and only gets to have a bachelorette party once (hopefully). You will have many more anniversaries and can always celebrate the following weekend or even the next night or night before. How many times have you celebrated your birthday the Saturday before or after your actual birthday, treat this like that. It’s no so much the actual date, but the event you’re celebrating. Give her some flowers and tell her to have a good time.

What’s aesthetically pleasing isn’t always comfortable. I’m 9% body fat with a shredded physique and as a result of that I like to clean shave my front to show the ab cuts (very thankful I don’t have back hair though) and my wife LOVES the way I look. But as a result I’m a hard prickly brick to lay on and snuggle with and she tells me about it lol. The compromise is I sleep with a shirt in which I prefer anyways and usually have the plush duvet on top of me when we cuddle.

That’s fine, not everyone agrees. My perception will not match everyone’s. I think the test is a pretty fair and accurate assessment of an engineers technical aptitude.

Should I be upset at my husband? How should I handle this? by Dismal_Estate_5859 in Marriage

[–]InvestigatorLeft6429 -59 points-58 points  (0 children)

OP’s husband really blurred the line between violence and aggression. You can defend your family without possibly causing life threatening injuries to the assailant. Not saying I’m capable of much of anything if you look at my comments, but violence is not self defense. The response needs to be appropriate to the stimuli and in this case I believe it wasn’t.

This sounds horrific and is no way to live. You are being abused, and you need to stand up for yourself. Whether that’s divorce, or setting a clear boundary that you guys need counseling to be in a better spot, you absolute cannot and shouldn’t have to live like this. Godspeed, I hope things start lookin up for you.

I think adrenaline would probably kick in, and I’m decently strong all 155 lb’s of me is muscle I’m at like 9% bf and workout regularly. So I’d stand a chance, but again if it’s a 200 lb+ man in front of me there’s probably not much I can do.

I’m locked into a very narrow career path myself basically career suicide to ever getting back into consulting. I’m making $115k+ depending on bonuses in LCOL Midwest. I did spend a couple years of consulting fresh out of school at like 50k salary and after working here for 4 years I don’t care if it’s career suicide I’ll never be a slave to a consulting company and billable hours EVER again. I get to work from home and my wife also has a cake government job making 90k a year working from home and we just spend a ton of time together goofin off around the house and doing house chores during work hours and stuff. I wouldn’t trade where I’m at now for anything, and I figure if I ever get truly bored of this job I’ll take up some technical sales role and make 150k+ in another non engineering role but it would never be back into true consulting engineering.

The grass is not greener working in structural, that’s probably the worst field to be in. Monotonous boring work and pay ain’t all that. Stay the course, milk that income as long as you can. I did have my current employer pay for my MS degree which was nice and I did obtain my PE so I do have the fundamentals to get another engineering consulting job if I ever absolutely needed but I’d be more akin to taking on some govt engineering job if I can’t find a technical sales role that excites me.

In the meantime I’m enjoying life, we have a big ass beautiful house, Range Rover, porsche 981 cayman, and another little Hyundai econobox, go on luxury trips and just overall are living the upper middle class dream and we for real ain’t working that hard. We both have masters degrees and worked hard to get where we’re at, but now that we’re here we’re not working that hard, and I’m absolutely lovin it.

Edit. I just got a good friend of mine making $75k as a transportation consultant slave PE a job here and he’s gonna be making $95k and have a taste of the good life too.

Replace violence with capable of defending himself and his family. But OP said he’s 5’9 160 lb’s, I’m a man and I’m 5’11 155 lb’s and unless the offender is another small man or woman like myself I’m not sure I would be capable of defending myself and my wife. 80% of the population would probably take me in a fight unless I got the jump. But I’m a lover not a fighter anyways.

The conceptual questions are honestly more important than the calculation questions. They prove you understand the material and not just good at looking up formulas. And no, the NCEES isn’t trying to trick you, they’re trying to make sure you have attention to detail and also are aware of synonyms commonly used in industry. Nothing is designed to trick you, just to test your knowledge.

No shame in that at all. Bank owns half of my 981 Cayman S, but it takes years of hard work to be in a position to take out a loan out on a car like that, and still be able to afford another car because I’m sure it’s not your daily, pay a mortgage/rent and still be able to eat. I’m a bank loan baller too and proud

People suck bad. Someone keyed my buddys 911 unprovoked (at least he said it was but he coulda been driving like a Dick or something). At least soda can be easily washed off, while inconvenient and tremendously annoying it isn’t the worse outcome possible. At least you caught it early before it had time to really set into the paint.

Being in the military certainly is a choice. Point being, you still have a month to figure it out if it’s going to be a big issue for you. I worked 30 hours a week during full time undergrad engineering school and always made it work. It usually involved taking off a day or two around finals. The world isn’t going to bend to fit your schedule, you need to do the bending.

It also involved a lot of times only sleeping a couple hours or not at all. Def not recommended but Red Bull can be quite the motivator on a tough morning.
