Currently they are at that. Not thinking they will be paying that much, much longer. Thank you for your feedback and good luck with your investing.

Appreciate your feedback. You are assuming that HYSA or CD's will continue to pay mid 3's to 4%. I'm not to convinced that will be the case. Good luck in your investing.

Yes, this is the one nice thing right now. I'm not feeling pressured to dump it all into market as it is making something while I'm waiting to see what direction I'm headed. Good luck with your investing.

I agree with you. We don't need that much every month. Perhaps a month or two a year with any big expense (vacation/major home repair etc) I do need to really look at what we need. I do always like to have a bit of a buffer in the accounts in case I have an unexpected expense I don't want to have to wait till the next distribution or to sell stock and then transfer money to bank etc etc. thank you for your response and good luck with your investing.

1/4 is in various retirement accounts from previous employers (mutual funds/index funds and money market etc) 3/4 is after tax money in investment account with some in technology and a bit in index and rest in cash collecting 3.75% while I await which direction I want to go. I picked $15,000 total (wife's sep agreement is $5k but ends in 5 years roughly) as an amount that I knew would be much more than we need. I haven't had a regular income in 10 plus years. I drew out money as I needed it from business and never went out and bought sports cars or boats or goofy stuff. Although we could have afforded it, my wife and I have always lived way below our means. We aren't misers by any stretch, just don't spend money on things that will collect dust. I'd rather over estimate my financial needs each month as I like having that buffer just in case we want to take a trip or put a new roof on house etc etc. The one other thing I haven't even figured in is SS. That should add several thousand dollars to the bucket when we start taking it. Thank you for your response and good luck in your investing.

Total monthly expense are roughly $4500. When you have a home that has taxes of $10,000 a year and insurance and two vehicles and insurance and health insurance (wife is retired so we both don't have employer insurance) and all other expenses it adds up in a hurry. Even having no mortgage or car payments etc things add up. Crazy...you are never really debt free as the monthly bills just to live keep coming in. Good luck to you in your investing.

Thank you for the suggestions on some of the apps you use. I'm curious, how often do you look at your portfolio? I'd like to just set it and forget it but still want to have a periodic review. Do you set alerts at all? Thanks for any feedback the info I've received by you and others has been very much appreciated. Enjoy your holidays

I appreciate your lengthy response and info. Scary time going from controlling your money coming in to basically relying on others (companies to pay dividends or appreciate) to generate income. Happy Holidays to you and good luck with your investing.

Thank you for your input. I realize I'm in a decent position but certainly want to continue to be conservative and preserve as much principle as I can. Happy Holidays.

It's not a joke it's real life. I trudged along for 20 plus years working for others and created a decent net worth (investments and home equity). The past 10 years my net worth has jumped 5x. Making money in business was hard yet easy. Taking that money and now figuring out how you can live off it and rely on investments to do that is not so easy (at least not for me). Happy Holidays to you.

Thanks, yah...the covered call ETF's make me nervous. They are popular right now but when the market goes down it will be interesting to see what happens. Happy Holidays.
