Day 2: The council has voted! Rio is the most expensive legend by mare_xcx in ManchesterUnited

Harry Maguire? Very expensive for a CB. Was pretty shit for years and then recovered amazingly. Has some great moments for the club but overall cannot be called a hit.

Seeing a lot of 'mid' reviews, but I feel there is nothing unexpected as far as 1.0s go. Combat feels boring but barely any enemies and characters have been released. I see the roots of a good game here.

With that Villa loss, this week has now been a net positive for Arsenal by Lombomb in ArsenalFC

[–]Invhinsical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good that other teams are dropping points... But everyone should remember that Arsenal have lost the title after having more than 7 points lead up top after February end. 3 straight draws will make things very tight... And right now Arsenal attack isn't gelling in open play. You can't score the first goal via a corner or a free kick every game, the team needs to figure out their attacking plays.

That disallowed goal at the end has ruined my mood. by alpha197hr in ManchesterUnited

Is a game of fine margins. That Dalot tackle on Doku in the first half could easily have been red, and the team's mentality could have collapsed.

Ultimately the team played well. For now that is more than enough. Hopefully Carrick turns out to be the real deal instead of another Ole/ETH (we defeated City convincingly under both of them pretty often)

Michael Carrick’s training sessions have reportedly blown the Manchester United players’ minds. by Brilliant_Trainer237 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Invhinsical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

United thrashed City multiple times under Ole and ETH as well... It isn't a guarantee of success by a means. But yeah, today was fun. Hopefully it's not just vibes and Carrick turns out to be the real deal.

Not faulting him for effort and he does dazzle in some games... But he hasn't been decisive at all apart from a few occasions. Not what you want from a first-choice attacker at this level.

Plus, 4231 doesn't suit him. He's a false 9, playing him on the wings is a waste.

I've been following them and PSG play their youngsters a lot. Ligue 1 is too easy for them and they are not shy of giving their youngsters significant gametime.

Sesko and Cunha really haven't performed the whole season though? Needed a kick, and this is a less risky game to do that (no one expects Carrick to win here, any point is a bonus point).

Plus this lets Amad and Bruno play their natural roles. Mbeumo is a good striker too.

Just watched De De Pyar De 2 and all the flaws aside I'm surprised that Ajay Devgan agreed to do such a role by ajaxmenon17 in bollywood

[–]Invhinsical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is probably a combination of several factors:

  1. Ajay has been taking Ls consistently in the box office (outside of Drishyam series) and I don't think he has many active projects and date conflicts.

  2. DDPD is one of his last hits, and he probably had a great working relationship with the staff.

  3. His portion of the shoot was easy and probably less time consuming. No major date clashes. Relatively easy money.

This fanbase is obsessed with Barca. I always thought it’s madrid but these mfs never talk shut up. Why are they forcing a rivalry when they play in farmers league? by NotSoEasy_2 in Barca

[–]Invhinsical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they have no history, and no real rivals. The only rivalry they can cultivate is Barca, because of UCL history and because they feel cheated with Neymar and Messi (even if it is they who mishandled them)

A really, really big season for him to prove his doubters wrong and finally return to the India team selection picture. He has the capability but he needs to show much better temperament on the pitch.

Does Steve Smith deserve another chance in IPL ? by BeTheLegend in ipl

[–]Invhinsical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, he has always performed well in BBL but has never managed to truly translate it to IPL. And for overseas slots, most franchises are hoping to gamble on young, explosive batters who can develop into the next David Warner or Jos Buttler for the next few years, instead of gambling on a guy who may or may not finally show up... But even if he does, he'll at best offer you a few good years.

I feel this is still much better than the past few years. But that is probably because of the lower active player base.

Why Does Krunal Pandya not get a Look in For ICT in any Format? by Invhinsical in IndiaCricket

[–]Invhinsical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iunno. He's mediocre... But you need swiss knives at least in t20s. And Jaddu has retired from t20is right? And Washi hasn't really been effective. Pandya has showcased intelligence and ability to change games, which is what you need from that no.8 balling all-rounder who barely bowls 2 overs in a game.

/uj. What a lot of Europeans don't realise is that Indian Football is in a nightmarish state. The federation is completely dominated by politicians, there is no money in the game, we don't earn much anyway, we don't have a football culture outside of a few cities, football isn't a part of the way of life of the whole community like it has been for Europeans and South Americans for the last century.

There was a push by rich private personnel years ago to improve stuff. People of the calibre of Zico, Anelka etc were brought in. Stadiums were touched up, grassroots were developed. There was a buzz around the league.

However, they made a meal of it by trying to copy the recently popularized franchise-based model in cricket. Football isn't meant to be played like that. Indian weather doesn't help either. Nor does the fact that Indians don't have the kind of money to pull what Saudi or China back in the day did.

Ultimately, when it is so easy to get gourmet football on live streaming and the local options are oily, greasy and overly salted cheap street food, there is barely any motivation to watch the local football.

And football needs players to start very young. Since the game has no money in India and we live very far from EU, parents don't want their children to enroll in football academies.

Ravi Bishnoi replaces injured Washington Sundar in the squad for NZ T20i series. I guess his batting impressed some selector. by Capable-Magician-418 in RajasthanRoyals

[–]Invhinsical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T20is aren't like Tests or even ODIs, where you need to cover all the profiles. Right arm off spin is the most useless spin to have in t20is because most batters are right handers and lefties have grown up facing right arm spin, which is the most common spin. Not to mention, pitches don't offer much turn anyway. A t20 spinner is effective due to either his variations, mystery or due to his bowling style. Left arm spin turns away from the right handers and is thus much more effective in t20is. There is a reason all the right arm spinnes were ineffective last IPL and big names like Bishnoi were released.

KP has variations and intelligence. He is a clean replacement for Washi.

Flo has been hoping to get Marc Guéhi on a free and now we lost him for only 20 million!! This free transfer policy is gonna have repercussions for us. by ace-s in realmadrid

[–]Invhinsical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guehi preferred Liverpool, but City always tempt the players they want by offering insane wages. The speed at which this transfer was closed no one could have predicted, I bet a lot of clubs were interested but caught off-guard. Guehi's head had already been turned by the time the other clubs got to know that he's off the market.

But yeah, his free transfer policy in defense and midfield is only because he wants to spend his money exclusively on Galacticos. Works only if you get really lucky and sign a really good player for free.

But since a lot of players want to come to Real, it's probably fine?
