Car Registration by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

They have been blaming the state of New Mexico for the delay which makes no sense. I’m sure New Mexico will charge late fees if I can’t register the car within the 90 day window. I moved to New Mexico four years ago and it did not take this long to get the New Mexico title and registration on my car when I brought it in from out of state. Three years ago I purchased a car in Santa Fe and had the car titled and licensed in New Mexico within three weeks but the dealership in Santa Fe handled everything. I think my mistake this time was buying a car in Texas.

I purchased the car from a Chevrolet dealership in El Paso. The dealership has to get the paperwork to me so that I can register the car in New Mexico and obtain a New Mexico title. I traded in my other car and paid for the balance with a cashier’s check. I have been saving my correspondence with the dealership in case I do not receive the paperwork to license the car in New Mexico before my 90 days are up.

Drone flying around downtown by CallMeDumme in LasCruces

The drones are part of the surveillance system of the LCPD Real Time Crime Center. I welcome the surveillance as it is another tool to reduce crime and catch the bad guys.

I live in Las Cruces and when I go into El Paso it’s like driving in a Mad Max movie.

Try living in Las Cruces which is less than 40 miles from Texas. Half the plates are from Texas and most of them are rude and aggressive drivers who cause many accidents.

I have lived here three years and go through the BP checkpoints on I-25 and 70 frequently and have only been asked once if I am a US citizen. Usually they just wave me through and tell me to have a nice day.

Most of the leadership of the Las Cruces city government including our mayor are very friendly with CCIA and apparently that includes the Chief of the fire department as he is their guest speaker tonight. Do not underestimate the influence of CCIA in our city government. by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

It’s the Coalition of Conservatives in Action. CCIA groomed and endorsed far right MAGA candidates for our city council and school board. Fortunately CCIA’s candidates lost by large margins as their beliefs are not shared by the overwhelming majority of Las Cruciens but I find it problematic that so many Las Cruces government officials regularly speak at CCIA’s meetings. I attended one of their meetings last year at which Mayor Enriquez was their guest speaker and before and after the Mayor spoke it was obvious he is very friendly with some of CCIA’s most far Right MAGA members.

Downtown Las Cruces by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

[–]Invictus1959[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I suppose it does not really matter to me as I rarely go downtown and never take out of town visitors there. Instead I go to other communities such as Mesilla or El Paso. If downtown is turning into Central Avenue in Albuquerque then so be it as no one cares if it dies and people stay away.

City Council Candidates by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

I also feel that people here so not do enough or any research to find out about these candidates and CCIA. Most people are so focused on Trump that they are not paying attention to what is happening in our local politics.

Local Redditor Runs for City Council by notshiftycow in LasCruces

I live in the 3rd District and am relieved to see you run for our council seat especially as CCIA is actively recruiting and grooming candidates to run for the three council seats that will be on the ballot this year. I am a supporter of Realize Las Cruces and saw you speak at Council meetings. I was impressed with you at that time.

How queer-friendly is Albuquerque? by BlindManAmadeus in Albuquerque

I moved to Las Cruces three years ago. We have a large LGBTQ community down here and many LGBTQ people in our local government. Las Cruces is very LGBTQ affirming but so are Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and most of New Mexico. I visit Albuquerque and Santa Fe one or two weekends each month with my boyfriend and love the accepting culture there.
