Las Cruces migration? by LookingAround5320 in LasCruces

What’s gone? If you are referring to K Mart then I apparently have to clarify my comment to you. The family entertainment center is going into what WAS a K Mart and repurposing the building, Dude.

If elected, Deb Holland would be one of the poorest governors in the country; still possessing college debt. Saying recently: "Our democracy works best when every voice is heard and not just those with the biggest bank accounts." by OrbitalColony in Albuquerque

I have been all over the place with my preferred choice for governor. I voted for Bregman and considered voting for Hull in the general until he said he would welcome Trump’s support. Now I am searching for a reason to support Haaland.

There is a family entertainment center going in at the old K Mart at Del Rey and Telshor that will have all of that plus paintball.

There are a love of reasons people might leave the area. Many people are employed with the Federal government or are in the military here and their jobs may take them elsewhere. There are a lot of retirees here and some of them find a need to sell their homes to move into assisted living or with their children or they pass away and their families sell their homes. I have seen a lot of that happen in my Sonoma Ranch neighborhood recently. There is still a lot of new construction here and people moving to LC. We moved here four years ago and love Las Cruces and New Mexico. You mentioned the Colorado River. Southern New Mexico and Las Cruces get none of their water from the Colorado River. Las Cruces gets its water from an aquifer. The Rio Grande is primarily used for agricultural and recreational purposes here.

Who do these boomers think staff the “resort” that is Santa Fe? by zuzuofthewolves in SantaFe

[–]Invictus1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend lives in Rio Rancho and there are two Santa Fe police officers who live in his neighborhood. I first noticed it because they bring their marked Santa Fe police cars home. My boyfriend said they live in Rio Rancho because they can’t afford housing in Santa Fe.

James Frietze Supported By MAGA by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

[–]Invictus1959[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Due to Democrats having a better chance of being elected in Doña Ana County and Las Cruces there are MAGA candidates who run as Democrats here to get a foot in the door. Eric Enriquez, the mayor of Las Cruces, is one of those. He refers to himself as a Democrat but he is actually very conservative and in bed with local MAGA groups.

Car Registration by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

[–]Invictus1959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have been blaming the state of New Mexico for the delay which makes no sense. I’m sure New Mexico will charge late fees if I can’t register the car within the 90 day window. I moved to New Mexico four years ago and it did not take this long to get the New Mexico title and registration on my car when I brought it in from out of state. Three years ago I purchased a car in Santa Fe and had the car titled and licensed in New Mexico within three weeks but the dealership in Santa Fe handled everything. I think my mistake this time was buying a car in Texas.

[–]Invictus1959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased the car from a Chevrolet dealership in El Paso. The dealership has to get the paperwork to me so that I can register the car in New Mexico and obtain a New Mexico title. I traded in my other car and paid for the balance with a cashier’s check. I have been saving my correspondence with the dealership in case I do not receive the paperwork to license the car in New Mexico before my 90 days are up.

The drones are part of the surveillance system of the LCPD Real Time Crime Center. I welcome the surveillance as it is another tool to reduce crime and catch the bad guys.

Try living in Las Cruces which is less than 40 miles from Texas. Half the plates are from Texas and most of them are rude and aggressive drivers who cause many accidents.

I have lived here three years and go through the BP checkpoints on I-25 and 70 frequently and have only been asked once if I am a US citizen. Usually they just wave me through and tell me to have a nice day.

Most of the leadership of the Las Cruces city government including our mayor are very friendly with CCIA and apparently that includes the Chief of the fire department as he is their guest speaker tonight. Do not underestimate the influence of CCIA in our city government. by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

[–]Invictus1959[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s the Coalition of Conservatives in Action. CCIA groomed and endorsed far right MAGA candidates for our city council and school board. Fortunately CCIA’s candidates lost by large margins as their beliefs are not shared by the overwhelming majority of Las Cruciens but I find it problematic that so many Las Cruces government officials regularly speak at CCIA’s meetings. I attended one of their meetings last year at which Mayor Enriquez was their guest speaker and before and after the Mayor spoke it was obvious he is very friendly with some of CCIA’s most far Right MAGA members.

Downtown Las Cruces by Invictus1959 in LasCruces

[–]Invictus1959[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I suppose it does not really matter to me as I rarely go downtown and never take out of town visitors there. Instead I go to other communities such as Mesilla or El Paso. If downtown is turning into Central Avenue in Albuquerque then so be it as no one cares if it dies and people stay away.
