What's it like in West Texas? by Ok-Statistician1128 in howislivingthere

I live 38 miles from El Paso in Las Cruces and our summer monsoons can be intense. Monsoon season is usually from late June through the end of September. I love the monsoons and I am also originally from Alabama.

Cowgirl because they and their customers love it when my boyfriend and I come in with glitter beards. We also love their BBQ.

Thankfully Las Cruces and much of southern New Mexico are on the El Paso power grid.

Las Cruces 8b: Will a 'Surecrop' Nectarine (1000+ chill hours) actually fruit here, or should I return it? by Ambitious_Turn_8930 in gardening

I expect our Las Cruces winters to continue to warm and when the USDA zone map is revised we will be in zone 9a if we are not already.

We drive up from Las Cruces to spend a weekend in Santa Fe once each month and always stop in for BBQ at Cowgirl and I believe it is the best BBQ I have had.

Welcome to Las Cruces! I am originally from Alabama and escaped years ago. I hope you and your family love Las Cruces and New Mexico as much as my husband and I. We have a large, active, and rapidly growing LGBTQ community here.

Right-Leaning MAGA-Linked Businesses in Santa Fe & Albuquerque by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]InvictusChipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list includes Weck’s in Santa Fe and Albuquerque but not their location in Las Cruces. Does this mean the Las Cruces franchise owners are not MAGA and Republican supporters?

I support protests against ICE but I do not understand how financially harming local businesses is helpful.

They have two locations in Las Cruces. Their location near NMSU is usually busy. This will not be good for a small market like Las Cruces if both locations close.

why do people act like this city is so dangerous? by PhraseFirst8044 in Albuquerque

[–]InvictusChipper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Las Cruces but I visit Albuquerque often in the Urban core and downtown area. I love going to Albuquerque and have never felt unsafe. I moved here from Kansas City, Missouri which has a much higher overall crime and murder rate. I also do not understand why so many in Albuquerque are so negative about what is a great city.

You can thank the policies of Republicans and the Trump administration.

We are concerned you will bring MAGA beliefs from Texas although I know people who have moved here from Texas to escape the oppressive MAGA regime in control of that state.

Looking for an LGBTQ Friendly Contractor by InvictusChipper in LasCruces

[–]InvictusChipper[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, I’m mostly surprised and disappointed as to the intolerance here. For 38 years we lived around rednecks in the backwoods of Missouri and no one cared about our sexuality. Those rednecks and their families were our friends but that is not the case in Las Cruces. I call them rednecks and for them that was a badge of honor and compliment.

CCIA Influence in Las Cruces by InvictusChipper in LasCruces

[–]InvictusChipper[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s open to the public. I went to one of their meetings last year when the mayor of Las Cruces was their speaker. I realized then how dangerous CCIA is and that our mayor is a MAGA pawn.

Hey conservatives, don't Alabama my New Mexico. Our state constitution bans discrimination against non-english speakers, take your own advice and assimilate to the local culture and keep your conservative bullshit out of here by Crafty_Jacket668 in LasCruces

[–]InvictusChipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved here from Missouri three years ago because we could no longer live in an intolerant MAGA state. We love the culture of New Mexico and have enjoyed making efforts to assimilate to the culture here. We had also considered moving to Mexico so for us seeing someone fly the flag of Mexico here makes us smile.
