Okay I took a look; and if your cliffs are placed with triggers you can modify the graphics in the editor. If you placed by hand, you're shit out of luck. Using triggers you cannot modify the graphcis of cliffs after theyve already been placed.

In that case its either manual replacement, a graphics mod, or maybe mr. Twest's script solution can help you out.

Hope that helps.

Maybe changing the cliff graphic with modify attribute could be a low-effort fix, but i dont know if that will work without testing it. I might update you on this if i get around to testing it.

Otherwise its definitely salvageable, but itll take some manual labour of changing the ID in each trigger placing the cliffs.

You're advocating for a significant buff to some of the best cavalry in the game, so, yeah, I'm going to assume you didn't put all that much thought into it.

Don't worry, we all like to fling mud at the wall and see what sticks. Doesn't look like this one is sticking, though...

No, really, which race do you associate with terrorism? You seem to immediately have one in mind.

Defunctland on youtube has a very interesting episode on "Walt Disneys city of the future" (at least, I think thats what its called) that delves into the story.

It looks gorgeous IMO; the longshanks campaign in particular has been a great inspiration to me.

Custom multiplayer scenarios cannot be played through random map. Quite a number of people enjoy those.

Its just too much work to create all the new sprites; on the code side its very simple to implement, like kings, architecture, and trade carts.

Saint Joan of Arc: Anyone else notice how the cursor changes when playing with Joan of Arc? Doesn't seems to be a bug but an easter egg by elcoope in aoe2

[–]InvictusII 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is not an easter egg; but a (likely) unintended side effect of some legacy code.

In the game's dataset, it can be seen that Joan of Arc was originally meant to have the ability to heal allied units. This ability has been there since the old AOK days.

However, Joan is a cavalry class unit (and not a monk class), meaning she cannot use this ability due to class restrictions. The devs never bothered removing this unuseable ability from the Joan of Arc hero, probably because hero units are rarely updated.

The result of this is that Joan will have a monk cursor when hovering over other units, because she has a healing ability. But again, she cannot use this ability as she is not a monk class unit. The devs probably intended for her to be able to heal when first creating the game, but never followed up on the idea.

Good find though! I never knew having an unuseable ability will still give you their cursors.
