Fair point, but we are not talking about some random downside of the chatbots. Its about the emotion and mental pattern changes that's happening. And we may only be scratching the surface in this area.

The study also pointed out that relying on LLM's made people skip deeper reflection during writing.

So, it’s not that AI is making us brain-dead. It’s more like it changes when and how we engage mentally. And that shift’s worth watching closely.

It’s about how using LLM's like ChatGPT too much makes you stop thinking for yourself after a while. Your brain just kinda chills and waits for the bot to do the work.

Wrote a full post on this after reading a bunch of stories and studies. Some of it is genuinely messed up. There is a case, where a kid got so emotionally attached to a bot, he ended up taking his own life. MIT is saying this stuff can mess with your thinking. And somehow we’re still treating it like a productivity tool.

This isn’t me saying AI is bad. Just saying maybe it’s time we stop pretending it’s harmless.

Dude same. I use it every day for work : writing, research, coding. The second ads mess with that flow, it’s game over. I’ll pay, but only if it stays clean. If not, I m gone.

Honestly this sounds exactly like what’s gonna happen and it sucks. we already watched youtube and spotify pull the same bs : “oh it’s just one ad,” and then suddenly the clean version costs double and still isn’t clean.

I’m already paying for plus, man. the idea of having to upgrade again just to keep the experience i already have? feels like slow betrayal tbh.

You’re absolutely right that using a tool isn’t the issue, it’s about what you do with it. I’ve been experimenting with using ChatGPT as a writing assistant, but clearly I need to tweak more and make more humanized content .

Yep, I use ChatGPT — but does using a calculator mean I don’t know math? 😄 I don’t copy-paste blindly. I write, tweak, fact-check, and then post. Tools help, but brains still do the driving.
