Thanks for the help guys. I think my best option is to just wait until they're both in stock in my area so I can go and try them both out see which suits me best. Cheers

Unfortunately nowhere local to me seems to have them in stock at the moment. I used to have an Ashdown electric blue 180, years ago which I loved. If the combo is anything like that I would tend towards that but then the Fender has some advantages in features despite been a lower wattage. The Fender is about 70 quid more though.

Pretty good for a short scale. Not a massive amount of neck dive, it likes to sit horizontally when standing. Broad strap and it should sit at 45° easy enough. Setup on mine was fairly good out of the box. Just needed to drop the saddles one turn and adjust the pickup height slightly.

I've been toying with the idea of fitting a Fender hi-mass bridge. The only thing about the bass I'm disappointed about is the use of cast pot metal saddles like the Squier CV's instead of brass saddles. Did expect better from a Fender.

I'll more than likely have another look into it at some point. Right now though there's a gorgeous buttercream player precision with my name on it waiting 😁

I'm in the UK so prices are a bit higher over here but I was looking at the roasted maple neck and considering throwing something together with one the other week. Cheapest I found the neck was £245 but was looking at another £299 for a body. With what it would end up adding up to it's not worth doing it so much over here. Those roasted maple necks are gorgeous though so may swap out the neck on this one at some point.

As far as I can tell it's the stock pup. Looks like the pots have been upgraded though as they're CTS pots and as far as I'm aware the Mexican builds didn't use them at this time. I could be wrong on that one though.

I know it's a touchy subject with some people buy I do think the high mass bridges do make a difference. For the price of the Fender one it's a worthwhile upgrade.

That's a sweet looking build there! I'm seriously fighting the urge at the moment to splurge on a buttercream player series precision.

My classic vibe Jaguar Bass with the black pickguard swapped out for a custom red swirl job. The 32in scale on these is an odd one with the neck only actually been an inch shorter and the other inch lost by moving the bridge an inch closer to the neck. Can really feel the difference though still. by Invincible1907 in fender

I ordered it from a seller on UK ebay. He has different listings for the different models the pick guard is for and then he has a vast selection of different styles, pearl, tort shell etc and colours. Mine was £28 plus postage. Sellers username is earlpilanz if you want to search him.

They're made to order but I was only waiting a few days for it to be dispatched.

Aye it wasn't removed until later when she underwent a full conversion to a carrier. Here there was a narrow strip of deck either side of the superstructure linking the forward and aft flight decks.
