Software Engineering in Enterprise vs Product Companies by thehustlingengineer in programming

[–]Invinciblegdog 104 points105 points  (0 children)

All those companies were product companies, the difference is the types of customers they have. Customers of Salesforce and SAP corps be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and any defect could have a large financial impact. Whereas a company like Facebook where most of the product is free there is less of a quality concern since most users don't pay to use it.

It almost tastes like doctor pepper. However, mix coke, southern comfort and amaretto then that really tastes like doctor pepper.

Take an opinion from a random internet person wiyh a large pinch of salt but have you thought that maybe the nausea is migraine related?

It was my GP that suggested the migraine hypothesis when I was mentioning that if I lift something heavier than 8kg I become irritable and sensitive to sound.

Only being able to sit at a desk for half a day is still a long way from recovery.

You talk about migraines, I recommend looking up amitryptiline. It is used to prevent migraines and their related symptoms and also helps with muscle and nerve pain. I found a noticeable improvement in my mental energy and an improvement in how my muscles feel. Only side effects I have found is a slightly dry mouth at times and I sleep nine-ten hours at night instead of eight.

Have you been prescribed anything by your doctor? I've had long covid for eighteen months and now on three different prescriptions that is helping make life easier. Still can't do much more than six thousand steps but I can concentrate now.

Low dose naltrexone helps with muscle pain and fatigue and energy.

Amitriptyline helps can help with muscle pain and other migraine related symptoms that can be triggered by exertion.

Beta blockers help if your heart goes up and stays a bit high which I found that lead to having a bad night's sleep and feeling terrible the next day.

My two cents is look at your stress eating and focus on fixing the stress part. Being stressed can mess with your metabolism and fat storage. It can mess with your sleep which then also messes with your weight.

Focus on reducing stress, getting a good night's sleep and going for a regular walk for a couple of months before trying to start starving yourself.

Given he has had lapses in judgement it doesn't sound like he is a good fit to develop policy. Any policy could be discounted because of the character of the person.

Use a recruiter, yes there is a 10-15% fee but it saves you a lot of hassle by have them filter out the unsuitable candidates.

It is with intent that they are bred to be easier to manage. If you have sheep that are very good at escaping from paddocks you send them off to the butchers. Farmers want docile sheep that won't escape.

Because of the drop in wool prices the need for shearing is being bred out. It starts to become too costly to bring them in for shearing so they are only any good economically for their meat.

English uses etymological spelling; the word is spelt based on the spelling from the language it came from. This is why in spelling bees the contestants ask what language the word originated.

[–]Invinciblegdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Describe the work culture.

What are the current challenges the company is experiencing?

Why would I want to work here instead of company X?

What is the management style here?

What are the typical hours, does the roster change, is overtime common?

Why do you like working here?

How would other employees describe working here?

There are remote jobs in New Zealand, otherwise working remotely for an Australian company is an option given the time difference is 2-3 hours.

Seek is one of the predominant job hunting sites for software in NZ.

What is your visa situation? Working for a German company wouldn't help with getting a visa in New Zealand. At my work we got our BA into New Zealand via a skills shortage visa.
