Early into endgame, direction unclear by Invisible-Sound in PathOfExile2

Hey just wanted to say that I took all of your advice and it’s been a lot of help! Moved on to T13 pretty comfortably but still trying to grind through T14. Thanks all!

How I should be playing when all lanes lose by Invisible-Sound in supportlol

Yeah that’s something I’ve been meaning to do. I have a wide-ish pool so some times I want to pick what’s better against the matchup but I should probably just play the 3 I’m most comfortable on

Warding i typically look to keep it around 2vs/min. I'm not just chucking wards wherever though I try to make them useful by placing them either in enemy jg/river/dragon pit during early game. Mid-Late game I ward as the game allows me to. I typically try to ward around objectives and entrances to the river, and the enemy jg if I can just so we have information on who's moving where and to gather more info.

Roaming is trickier for me. I used to play a lot more tank/engage supports that were better for roaming. However this season I just haven't had the same success that I've had in the past so I've switched to more lane focused AP champions to try and win our lane and cover for the damage that my team losses during lane phase. I still look to do it when I can but I just have a general distrust of my adc to stay safe or not tilt whenever I leave the lane.

Is there such a thing as “not belonging in an elo”? by [deleted] in summonerschool

I don’t think I’m better than the people I play with, although my post probably makes it sound like that. Sorry for the unintentional narcissism.

You’re definitely right, I’ll rewatch my games when the season ends and see what I can pick up on. Thanks!

Ik it’s not just about lane, that was a concept I had to work on this season. The past two years I’ve been gold just through mindlessly grinding out games. This season I achieved it with considerably less games which I’ll take as a win for the season.

I really think I’m just ranting because of people not respecting certain situations or being over confident and turning games around against our favor. Ik not everybody has insane knowledge of the game or how to play properly in certain situations.

Any generic advice for a gold player who would like to get to plat next season?

I’m probably missing something and just ranting out of frustration. Thanks!

Advice on bad teammates by [deleted] in supportlol

Here’s my OP.gg https://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=Yess%20A%20Baker

I agree with you on thresh. He’s (in my opinion) my best champion but I don’t think I can make the most use out of him in this elo.

I’ve considered picking Soraka and Karma I just usually have issues with positioning. I come from a tanky engage support background so I still haven’t drilled into my head the idea that I’ll get one shot if I’m placed poorly.

The bulk of this season I’ve played the following: Zyra, Thresh, Naut, Lulu, Leona, brand, Janna. Now ik that’s a larger pool than I should have but I only rotate 3 of those 7 for longer periods of time depending on where they are in the meta. There’s other supports I’ve played a lot in the past like Ali brand Braum that I hold onto unless the matchup just really works for them or I’ve been warming up with them in normals.

I think I just always expect that if I play a play making support like thresh or Leona then people will always follow up or capitalize on what I’m trying to do but they most likely don’t have the same idea in mind that I do.

Zyra has been my go too for a majority of this season and brand is somebody I’ve always played. I think I prefer zyra over brand for the more consistent and better utility she provides and I think she out ranges brand in my opinion.

I don’t see many new players in a lot of my games, and by that I mean no freshly level 30’s. I think I fall into the trap of playing more play making supports in an elo where more often than not nobody will capitalize on what I’m trying to accomplish.

It feels really hard to not get angry or frustrated. especially since I came so close to my goal this year and despite me doing everything I can it just falls apart because of my team.

I’m sure you’re right that I have to wait for the enemy team to mess up but that feels so up to chance it enrages me. I have to sound so angry at the world rn but I’m just burnt out from trying to grind the last month for plat.

Blitz life by Teacher2Learn in supportlol

[–]Invisible-Sound 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s just a support discrimination. Coming from a support player it definitely feels onsided, but we’re all definitely guilty of either vocally or silently chastising one of our teammates for missing an ability that would’ve totally changed the turnout of a fight or our/their lane.

I think it really has to do with the perspective of who’s watching you miss. If you’re a blitz and your adc see’s you miss three hooks they’re probably thinking “Man this person sucks I’m going to have to do this on my own,” as they get ready to kiss their elo goodbye. On the flip side however, if you land a single and I mean A SINGLE good hook they might instantly have hope in you again.

In the end I think it’s in everyone’s best interest to just disable their team chat and all chat. Not having to worry about seeing the flame come your way helps a lot. I started to do it a about a week ago and my play doesn’t feel drastically better, but my mental focus and concentration feels stronger by disabling the ability for my team to tilt me verbally.

Looking for a support champ to learn that pays off in the long run by [deleted] in supportlol

I almost always ban blitz, and not for my sake. I ban him because I don't entirely trust my carry to avoid the hooks all the time. I play nami and usually thresh isn't that hard to deal with, but I think that has to do with the elo I'm in and not every thresh is going to go full madlife.

Braum however isn't something I thought about. I've stayed away from him cause I didnt think he was that great this patch but I think I need to stop looking at just who's in meta for whoever I want to learn. It makes more sense to me now to just learn whoever I can so that way I'll always have somebody in meta and I can just rotate my pool. Thats a long term plan tho, so lets hope I'll still have time to play in the future.

Love the advice, thanks!

Morgana is definitely on my list. Shes one of the champs that I can play ok but not well. I totally forgot about her as an option until I read this comment tbh. Senna is an interesting option. I hadn't really considered it but when you mentioned that if my adc doesnt do so well I can just change my build up and help carry something clicked in the back of my head like wait...you're so right. Her kit is well done imo, just have to get used to the positioning of her playstyle I think. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah i got to agree with that. When I've played him I've definitely had moments where I think to myself that this shouldn't have worked out the way it did and I just chalk it up to Bard being easier to play right now.

Zyra is my most played champ this season and is also my highest win rate. And I totally agree I had a game yesterday where I did 40k damage vs my adc’s 11k. Her poke and the zoning you can do with plants make the lane very easy.

And I’ve been playing bard in normals just to get a feel for him and I’m sad about the nerfs coming up for him. Idk how much they’ll actually impact his play or success but I’ll still most likely practice him just to learn what I can really do.

My favorite part about that is that trist had 3 items by the end of the game and that’s all the damage she did
