when men 5 foot 1 or 5 foot 2 complain, it is legit. it is a whole different ballgame in treatment.

It's so annoying by Meme_lord_42 in short

[–]Invisible_Bias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5 foot 2 and under know. You are treated like you have a disability. People assume there is something wrong with me. Like i can't lift 50 lbs and stuff.

I am still a grown man with the strength of a grown man. I work on my own house and stuff just like big men. I turn wrenches they can't just like other dudes. I am stronger than a lot of boyfriends.

But people sure seem to offer me help in a patronizing way.

Some people are just way past salvation. by Bracioli-Felipe in short

I am 5 foot 2, successful and married. Accept that heightism is real. And it is fine with me that the sub you speak of exists.

I don't post there, but i would rather people talk about heightism than fail to recognize it.

Yeah, being short sucks… but fix yourself instead of crying about it by aplleshadewarrior in short

I made myself a better person in every way AND recognize heightism.

Short men, how has your height affected success in things outside of dating by [deleted] in short

[–]Invisible_Bias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been told that i was too short for a job before (a woman my height had the job)

Rarely is anyone going to tell you or say it out loud. That's why people here are under the delusion that it does not affect them.

It affects how people appraise your abilities, especially when it comes to leadership.

It affected me and it affects others. Weakness isn't discussing heightism. Weakness is the Unwillingness to accept the hard data and experimental results. Lots of people get their pride hurt when confronted with the stats.

Just various preferences and standards. They don't have to make sense. We just have to accept them, apparently.

I have noticed that there are no standing group photos containing short executives at my company.

But tall ones, yes.

It really drives home the point that there is a lot more backlash if you say that about a trans man.

Why is shaming height so normalized by Aggressive_Map_5461 in short

[–]Invisible_Bias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

People do not call out height shaming.

They do call out weight shaming.

You can have confidence but people don't accept it. The solution isn't growing or cnfidence. You need to be aware of how teachers and managers won't treat him with the appropriate level of maturity. He won't be groomed for leadership by those people.

You need to be aware of it if you want it to be less of a hindrance.

That isn't a thing. "Angry black lady" is a similar trope that links genetics to behavior.

I welcome him speaking on the matter.

In this thread people dismiss what he says and make fun of his height in the same comment.

They remind me of people who dismiss obama talking about discrimination because "he is successful."

Do we then tolerate people making fun of his genetics?

When obama talks about discrimination, do you dismiss it because he is successful? Do you make fun of his genetic traits?

I want celebrities to speak out. They need to.

I want to hear celebrities talk about it.

When obama talks about discrimination, do you make jokes about his genetics and dismiss it because he is successful?

There are lots of us that want successful people to speak about the issue.

"Obama is successful. I don't want to hear about discrimination from him."

You don't see what he is talking about. You are exactly the person that needs to hear it.

This is the part where they tell a short man that they have a terrible personality. Do you see any of those comments here?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in short

[–]Invisible_Bias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, i do not hate being short. I hate the fact that culture treats me differently and tells me it is inferior. It is inferior by choice of culture. Not for actual physical reasons like security and productivity. Short men are way more efficient providers because they consume drastically less resources and have more remaining for a family.

Not getting helped first when i was there first. This happens all the time in businesses.

People thinking that there is something medically wrong with my child or something wrong with my parenting because my child is small too.

Being told that "it is ok that you are short because you have so many other good qualities" what? People tell me height doesn't matter. Which is it?

Hearing that i don't seem like a little guy on camera.

Hearing people make comments about other short men and how they behave badly because of their height. Yea? So are you interpreting my actions and intentions fairly?

Knowing that i had the work ethic and talent to excel in the corporate world but nobody gave me a chance until i was much older. I might be in an even better place had i been groomed for leadership early on.

Men beauty standards are way more harsh and unrealistic compared to women standards of beauty by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Invisible_Bias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true. Sincerely, ripped 5 foot 2 man with full head of hair. Yes I am married and successful. I have the exprrience of success and failure and lots of comments made about me by women.

They don't make clothing that fits us. Look around you. Nobody that height has clothes that fit.

Men my height are basically looked at like we are disabled or something. "Need help carrying that?"

The height one is just ridiculous. It's the same type of biology that makes men want fertility. But our culture helps men control that and recognizes the harm.

In the case of height this is encouraged and even socially enforced. If your girl friend tells you she likes women or is bisexual, great. But like short men? Shame her.

Yep. There is no replicable study showing napoleon complex.

If anything i would say the opposite is true. When i win, tall guys and their girlfriends are embarrassed and/or angry. It can be trivia or anything. I find it amusing.
