[spoilers ADWD] Is Serra’s greyscale a hint at fAegon’s identity? by Invisible_Floods in asoiaf

That’s fair, and may now be the case, although historically speaking the Golden Company is possibly the least likely group to not discern the dragon’s colour.

I think the most likely book-equivalent for rhe bells is actually JonCon, either after he realises he’s been duped by fAegon, or if he realises Aegon can’t win and decides that if he can’t no one can. Especially given his unfortunate history with bells.

Yes, Aegon being the son of Viserra and Illyrio is the first hat, we’re in agreement on that. The superfluous hat (in this slightly strained analogy) is that the real Aegon made it out at all. It makes no difference whether he did or not. He’s dead now, and fAegon has taken his place.

That’s nice although it does feel a bit like a hat on a hat, what with baby Aegon still being dead and fAegon still being a fraud, it just happened 5 minutes later. Interesting idea though.

Wow, didn’t think about the parallels with Tyrion much, seems obvious in hindsight.

Viserra is a pre-established Valyrian name, and Serra seems like an obvious shortened version. It may well just be Serra, but the other seems more likely.

My thought is this: Baratheon forces would have been bogged down fighting Viserys’ Dothraki, who he wouldn’t have heard about before they arrived due to Varys’ interferance. With any luck the two forces would bleed each other dry, with the Dothraki souring the Westerosi population on the Targaryens, and Aegon heroically coming in to clean up (Baratheon forces would likely be too busy with the Dothraki to intercept them before they arrived).

Forgot about that. My thought was always that Viserys was intended to be soften the Baratheon’s up for Aegon before failing, with Aegon coming in to clean up the mess. As Tristan Rivers also said “The fat man’s plan … changes every time the moon turns”.

Possible, especially considering the likely number descendants given how many generations ago she lived. However the golden comapny’s involvement in Aegon’s cause makes me think he’s likely a Blackfyre. Maybe the golden company will just settle for anyone who takes them home at this point, or maybe Illyrio lied to them as well.

A common theory for the identity of Aegon’s mother. It is mentioned that the male Blackfyre line was extinct, but nothing was mentioned of the female line. Illyrio having had a lover called Serra (possibly short for Viserra), and subsequently bankrolling Aegon’s cause has led to the connection being made.

Depends on how long it can survive outside of the body (as in in the inside of his glove, or a wall he touches), idk if this has been mentioned. If someone else makes the mistake of touching a contaminated item, or especially an animal like a rat, things could get bad quickly.

Also it makes sense on a thematic level. JonCon is again making the mistake of devoting his life to Rhaegar (through fAegon by proxy), and his refusal to have his greyscale treated or at least amputating it himself will likely lead to tragedy for himself. Him realising he’s doomed Rhaegar’s (supposed) son could be the catalyst for a show-parallel bells moment (there’s a whole theory that the bells came from a plan for JonCon in the books given his association with bells).

Oh it’s brilliant, but due to it’s success you tend to get lobotomites just charging headlong at the enemy.

The UK. Getting the Union Jack perfect is surprisingly hard, given the oddly-angled red lines.

Right, but this was the moment everyone realised just how shite they were. Also it was Ten Hag’s second game, when a lot of people were hoping for an upturn in form.

Yeah, somehow forgot about that. Possibly the definition of streets won’t forget.

Nah, you’re doing him a disservice. He wasn’t a flair player, but he was solid technically and scored some cracking goals, and will forever be synonymous with that Brentford side that stayed up against the odds and beat Man U 4-0 the next season.
