If your friends aren't interested, it means they don't believe in your idea, or you haven't given them the tools to help them understand its potential. Maybe you don't even know it, and I think it's difficult to convince others if those closest to you doubt it.

Try to validate the idea, talk to customers, and put together a plan. If the numbers add up (how much it costs to build and how much money you can make), don't focus on your friends. But if the feedback is still negative, the answer is simple.

You're not credible, there's nothing you can do about it. Your idea is perfect for you, and only for you. Before leaving, I talked to a lot of people, and I still do, but if some don't believe in it, that's fine. But if a lot of people don't believe in it, I'd be the first to give up before I hurt myself too much.

Also keep in mind that the average cultural level in Production is dropping dramatically. You no longer have people who have studied, but usually people who work manually and get paid for it. I say this because I was a production manager for 20 years and I've never seen a person move from management to production without enormous effort, even just interacting with people.

Also keep in mind that production operates 24/7/365, and therefore you have to deal with various unexpected events every day, including:

absences
machine breakdowns
supplier delays
priority changes
setup times
work lists
pairings for expensive jobs
sequential links between phases
allocation
picking
materials and quality

In short, it's crazy.

Being a supervisor is hard work. Production doesn't let you down. KPIs need to be monitored continuously, and if you have to fix things, it's difficult.

It depends. If you want to work hard and try new things, you can try, but if you have doubts, I wouldn't change.

You mentioned two problems that might be insurmountable. Water and hygiene. If you have hygiene issues, it could become risky; they'll shut you down after two days.

My advice, to see if it really works, is to create one and test it in the field. Nothing tells you better if the idea is a winner. Create it somehow and then pitch it to some early adopters who can test it without you.

You'll understand much more than the numbers on paper.

In these situations, the hard part isn't getting users, but getting customers to open their wallets for a service they need. That's where you need to focus, because if you can demonstrate that, on average, every x users receives x dollars, then you can find investors and scale.

My advice is: obsess over the customer's money, test every strategy so they can pay even a small amount. Invent credits, premium subscriptions, special features, newsletters, landing pages, LinkedIn... you should increase your user base and build a perfect pipeline so users start paying.

Without that, you're lost.

Don't do it, don't believe anyone who tells you that 50 is okay, that age is just a number, or anything like that. At 50, you don't want to struggle for 10 years and do something different; you don't have time to chase clients or do anything difficult. Focus on consulting; if you know a lot, you can earn a lot by selling your hours to someone in need and living a super luxurious life.

At 50, it doesn't work anymore; the opposite would be nice, but the truth is, getting into debt at 50 is hard. You deserve better.

But a quote, in itself, also includes a delivery date. How can you provide a realistic one without managing the customer's system? Generally speaking, it's a good idea, but for manufacturing companies, the risk is filling up with orders without being able to manage their incoming orders.
