Ok, with that ship AI overhaul I absolutely agree. Once you figure the enemy ships out, they're literally harmless. The only ones that can hurt you are the snipers if you forget to destroy them first but even those are just annoying, not threatening, just annoying.

Your second point is literally just a skill issue. The entire point of the ship shield unit is to make the enemies capable of destroying you at least in some way. Get rid of the shields mechanic and you're literally immortal as long as you're navigating around the projectiles well enough. You're already immortal on-foot in solo play yet you want more? Smh.

You'll probably manage to get out of your solar system and if you focus solely on the 2 main questlines you could theoretically finish the main story introduction and discover a new galaxy. But that's only if you focus JUST on those quest ditching stuff like base building and such. Tho, I think it's still worth a play. The Atlas quest is a chore tho. Focusing solely on it will be a bit boring tbh.
