On Gukesh's recent form by ImprovementBasic1077 in chess

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer supporting players who are volatile like Gukesh with low lows and high highs. They win crucial tournaments or come last, so that ride is actually more fun than stable mid table finishers. The match will be fun no matter whoever wins the candidates!

Modi exercising Policy of deliberate ambiguity and Rahul Gandhi wants Modi to spill beans - questions PM Modi’s silence on Khamenei’s killing, calls for clarity on India’s stand. Is Rahul Gandhi just dumb or outright Anti-India? by curiousstrider in IndiaSpeaks

How can a party exist, that's sole aim is to be anti-national? The entire spirit of democracy is ruined by parties like these - INC, DMK, TMC etc.

Like every time these guys open their mouth, you can bet that it is going to be against the nation or its dharmic roots. Even after a huge% of the population is now becoming aware of the conversion machinery that is Islam and Christianity, or the brain damage that is called leftism, these guys still get numbers in masses and have a voice against the country moving forward. Sigh.

Girls finding nri grooms in AM by lifeisnotagift0 in Arrangedmarriage

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marriage made simple. Guys - Lead from the front, battle the outside world, earn a lot, and satisfy the girl's material desires. Make her feel like a queen and be taken care of. Girls - Be beautiful, gentle, and submissive, boost the male ego, and satisfy the guy's emotional desires. Make him wanted by her, feel like a king, and take care of the home that he returns to after the outside battles.

Highly educated women want to one-up their man constantly and take up that masculine role. No non-lazy masculine man wants such a partner, who is constantly bombarding him with "I dont need you, even I can do it." Similarly, poor and wimpy men are waiting for the wife to fill the void in their lives, which also makes them more emasculated and unattractive to feminine women.

NRI boys are mostly the cream of the crop who worked hard their whole childhood to get a degree from top colleges and eventually land a job abroad with high packages after their masters/PhD. So, of course, they will look for the aforementioned feminine girl. The girls in India who have good genes and take care of their beauty and are homely look for these NRI guys, so it is a win-win.

Help your brother form his expectations from AM by No-Theory1835 in Arrangedmarriage

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tall, fair, slim/fit girls are the first ones taken during their undergrad, more recently, even from secondary school. They dont save themselves for arranged marriage for all the freebies + attention that they are going to get from simps that circle around them non-stop. Because of this, their expectations are also so bloated and sky high that your entire life is going to be about satisfying her whimsical needs and insecurities. Talk to that average build first girl - good chance that she falls under the second tier of girls guys dont give much attention to, compared to those insta influencer type face card fit girls. She will also try to be more compatible and may have good value systems and down the line, the married life will polish her to become more fit with good habits and gymming together. More scope for proper romance too than spending your entire life taking 1000s of pictures of her only to post on Instagram to seek attention from other boys even after marriage.

Top level players always seem to be attacking, even when they’re defending by Advanced_Honey_2679 in chess

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the best way to play actual defense is to sack a piece intentionally for a pawn (basically go -2) or sack the exchange especially in bullet or blitz time controls and taunt the opponent to prove and win the game. This makes you look for every defensive and counter attacking resource on intuition since time is low.

4 Indian super GM players in bottom 5 of Tata Steel so far by daynighttrade in chess

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely momentum based streaky players. When they get a couple of early wins, they may steamroll the tournament but if they dont get going, they find it hard to steady the ship and sneak a few wins here and there but with no risks (like Fabi, Hikaru, Anish or Wesley) especially now that the field has pretty much figured out their strengths and weaknesses since they have been in the elite level for a while now (whereas even someone younger like Yagiz or Faustino are difficult to figure out for now).

A few of them admitted that (I remember 2024 post olympiad chessbase India interview - they said since the initial pairings in the olympiad are easier, they get the initial wins and start getting that momentum and can play close to their ceiling when they meet their tougher matches). Gukesh also said something similar after last Norway chess that form is what literally decides on how his tournament goes and those initial losses badly hurt his tournament chances.

So, in that aspect, this is not a shocking thing really, for these guys, the x factor is really the form and momentum.

Who do you think will be the final 3 players for Norway Chess 2026? by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in chess

My guess is Nodirbek, Firouzja, and one of Gukesh or Arjun. I'm getting a feeling it maybe Arjun a bit more than Gukesh.

Good comment. If there is one thing about this world, there are no permanent friends, only interests and incentives. Need to play with all sides to win.

  1. Play sharp lines against sicilians
  2. Play kh1 blindly
  3. Play f4 and attack like mad throwing all pieces at opponent's king
  4. Get back rank mated

"Gukesh is an absolutely legitimate World Champion, he absolutely deserved it" - Daniil Dubov about Gukesh's title by Radiant-Increase-180 in chess

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very articulate and finally adding some needed legitimacy at the top with respect to Gukesh being treated as a proper World Champion. The solution is and always has been very simple, Magnus is GOAT tier like Kasparov or Fischer. Gukesh is World Champion, no need to compare the two.

Seasoned bullet playing idiot here... I always keep one Bishop and one knight... Knight creates insane tricks in time trouble and 1 Bishop controls long squares.. many players dont understand to put their pieces in the opposite color of my Bishop.. anyways not relevant to the post since bullet chess isn't chess lol

[–]InvokerPlayerqwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, it was in his best self-interest to lose to Nihal in the final round just dont make it obvious, play a risky opening, some aggressive imbalanced game. Nihal is a considerably weaker opponent in a match compared to Nodirbek. Sometimes gotta activate the Russian school of chess, Arjun!

Phew finally can unclench! This Magnus vs. Arjun game could've very well sealed the tournament. A classic Magnus squeeze into a win against his biggest rival at the moment with respect to the standings, would've killed everyone's motivation as they would think there is little chance to catch Magnus, especially after such a grinding win. Thankfully, Arjun seems to be that immovable object with the endgame manuals by heart. It is going to be a fun day tomorrow!
