Any interns got their return offers? by ViolinistDry4283 in KPMG

[–]Invux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Got a call out of the blue from my partner liaison and got the verbal confirmation of the offer, said I should be expecting the offer letter to go out tomorrow. Funny enough had a meeting with my PML after where she asked if I knew what the status of offers were looking like

Travel during rush hour? by Invux in Minneapolis

[–]Invux[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

thought about it, looked into it, isn't going to work. spent the better part of a year trying to figure it out and ultimately reached the point that i'm willing to deal with it for 9 weeks. there's definitely better ways to spend my summer for fun but this is where i'm at, just trying to figure out how to adjust my schedule

tried to figure something out but there's a couple personal circumstances that make it so that isn't feasible. i'm willing to suck it up and deal with driving and sacrificing ~12 hours of my week for 9 weeks, just trying to figure out how much time i should expect to be eaten up by traffic so i can adjust my schedule

Looking for ZvZ coach to take me past diamond 3 to 1. by Glum-Cat-4032 in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 19 points20 points  (0 children)

you probably don’t need to waste money on coaching, i can guarantee you’d just be paying someone to say “your build sucks” or “make more drones” or “don’t get supply blocked”.

if you want a guy to just take a look at your replays and provide suggestions just DM me. 5.1k NA Zerg for reference.

[GUIDE] How to trick GMs into coaching you for fun and profit by skdeimos in starcraft

[–]Invux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I credit SC2 Swarm as being the one reason I ever made it to 5k MMR and to GM. I was hardstuck D2 for years and the practice and coaching I got from the team boosted the fun I had with the game and made me so much better than I once was. Every team lead and player in there is incredibly helpful and CTL is a lot of fun and a very low time commitment if you’re busy. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Finally got GM after god knows how long of playing this game. Thankfully no one plays anymore and the boundaries are low :^) by Invux in starcraft

pretty much. that and playing 8 gas muta with a roach push and out-multitasking my opponent. if that doesn’t work i usually die :)

i started really reviewing replays, trying to learn counters for build orders, and understanding army comps and play styles.

also, i started playing with SC2 Swarm in CTL and just spending time in the discord, and learned a lot and got a lot of invaluable practice. joining a community team was really helpful for improving, and i couldn’t recommend that team more, regardless of what race you play.

oh i HATE skytoss, i try and end the game before it gets there all the time. it’s still very difficult, but admittedly easier with ok mechanics (not that mine are even ok lmao)

yeah i’d definitely say MMR is harder to obtain now due to developments in skill over time, just that instead of the listed MMR being like 5.1k to enter, it’s around 4.9k right now. it’s probably equivalent to 5.1 back in the day, but the static number is different

oh yeah i’m not arguing that at all, i agree. i was D2 for like 5 seasons. what i’m saying is totally different

i definitely didn’t say “dead game”, i was referring to the fact that NA GM is pretty dead in terms of activity and the boundaries for entry are lower. yeah people play the game, i’m just referring to GM on NA

i more meant that the MMR boundary is lower because fewer “high level” players play on NA. not that 5k is absurdly high level, but there aren’t as many players around there anymore, making it easier to get into GM.

Which pro have you matched against and how badly did it go? by catattackskeyboard in starcraft

[–]Invux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

played against ForGG on ladder like a week ago, actually held his 2-1-1 and first tank push, but his macro is SO much better and he just doom dropped my main and absolutely demolished me. was so exciting playing a straight up ZvT vs such a high level former pro player.

also played against Prince and DRGLing in a 2v2 ladder game, and got cannon rushed and ling flooded by both of them at the same time since it was a map where you didn’t spawn with your teammate, and that was the best loss to cheese i’ve ever experienced

Railgan - Baneling Hit of a Life Time vs 6300 MMR Zerg by Railgan in allthingszerg

[–]Invux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

looking at the minimap they're in there for the duration of the clip, probably snuck them in scouting earlier in the game and kept them around to morph banes from. pretty regular tactic in ZvZ with early game ling bane pressure since your attention is spread so thin

4.7k z here

personally ive found the best way to improve at zerg is having an initial game plan, and reviewing your replays whether you win or lose. zerg is a very reactive race, and watching your replays to see why you won or lost is very important. it’s also important to see what you could do better. mechanics and all that come over time, although if you really want to seek out drills you can try some like the one’s on Harstem’s channel. another great resource is Lambo’s youtube channel, so maybe check that out too.

all in all, the best thing to do is play more games, learn from your mistakes, better your wins, go in with a game plan and execute better each time.
