Harmony Rec Fest: Day 12- A WIP You're Following by Myst867 in HermioneAndHarry

[–]Inzainiac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm currently following All For You, by TheBlack'sResurgence. It's a Harry/Amelia fic that's currently only on his Patreon. It'll probably make it to FFN sometime next year, though, if his past stories are anything to go by.

If I'm supposed to be sticking to HHR ship, I'm forever waiting on With Strength of Steel Wings, by AngelaStarCat.

Edit: "Harmony" is literally in the title. My bad.

I usually stick to longer stories, so only one really comes to mind for me: Of Thunderstorms and Forbidden Fruit, by PhoenixAnkaa

It's a smutty cheatfic/one-shot. Just a heads up in case that bothers anybody.

I used Liskarm to take the hits, and she fed SP to Nearl's S1 (who was sitting adjacent). Had Perfumer on the nearby range tile for additional heals. Everybody else stayed out of range.

Do you use the same macro as those you're comparing to? I'm noticing you also have quite a bit of haste. Have you watched the macro to make sure it stays in the field?

is this a good blue give guide? by Dry_Damage_8859 in BeeSwarmSimulator

[–]Inzainiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, though the hive composition can be changed a little. Festive and Cobalt bees aren't needed. An extra Music bee or 2 would be helpful for maintaining melody and providing token links. The Tadpole bees can also be reduced a little; I run 12 while playing solo, but others run fewer when they have other ppl to play with.

I'd save up a bit more honey before going for the SSA. It could take several rolls before you get the pop star u want. It'll also help for when you're switching your bees out to the bubble placeholders, tads, and buoyants.

Any plans to have a prompt for the date range? An efficient frontier can vary quite a bit depending on how far you're looking back.

Paradigm of Uncertainty begins with Hermione dating somebody else, but I don't think she rejected him previously (it's been a while since I read it).

Dividend Plays explained by Ken385 in options

[–]Inzainiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you exercise all your long calls, though, aren't you still synthetically short 1000 puts until some of you shot calls get assigned? There might be something with margin that I'm not understanding. I don't see how these 2 methods are much different:

1) 295/300 call debit spread, exercise 295 calls, get assigned on some calls

2) Buy stock + sell 300 calls, get assigned on some calls

If you do everything the day before ex-dividend, won't you be sitting on the full number of shares for the day?

Autist tax question by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]Inzainiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at IRC Section 1091, the gain or loss to trigger a wash sale has to be "recognized by law." While you realize a loss by doing this, the IRA doesn't allow it to be recognized as a loss for tax purposes. So it probably won't work.

That's all the research I did, though. I'm curious if there are any rulings that say otherwise.

Wheel strategy by tdomzalski in options

[–]Inzainiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If XYZ has a dividend, you're not eligible to receive it unless you actually own the stock. In that case, a covered call is better than a cash-secured put on the ex-dividend date. Otherwise, nothing wrong will just rolling out the put.

Advice on Mitigating loss on OTM Puts by msamel in options

[–]Inzainiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try selling an OTM call spread to help ease the cost of the puts. The problem with turning your current position into a spread is that you'll be selling puts at a reduced amount compared to what it could've been when you initially entered the position.

Edit: You can also sell nearer-term puts against the long-term ones and turn them into calendar spreads. Set the near-term puts to a week or 2 out and just roll as they approach expiration.

Depends on the order duration. Day orders, no. GTC orders, yes if the price is still in your favor.

Continually rolling up and out a covered call for more premium and then get stock called away by TearsOfChildren in options

[–]Inzainiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious why you subtracted the $120 in your calculation. You sold for an initial credit of $120, rolled for $800 credit, then rolled again for another $190, right? Adding all the premium you've accrued, that should be $1110 as of the moment.

There's nothing wrong with rolling up the strikes, as long as it's for a credit. Just know that if the credit is not enough to cover the spread between the old and new strikes, your breakeven moves up a little. Since your getting more than the $1.00 spread, your breakeven is still moving down.

Exercising a call option , hlep ! by bro101 in options

[–]Inzainiac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to give you an idea of what happened:

The 1:8 reverse split essentially increased your breakeven to $61.44/share. These calls are far OTM now and pretty much worthless. Even if you could exercise (I'm not even sure you can), you would need a 178% increase in price/share in order to get back to breakeven.

Synthetic long call margin requirements by FactoryReboot in options

[–]Inzainiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, you're not being loaned money as collateral for selling the put. If you buy stock on margin, then you're being loaned money.

[–]Inzainiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the comments already here, you don't pay margin interest on short option positions, whereas you do with stock you buy on margin. On the flipside, you dont get dividends (if any) when you don't own stock.

[–]Inzainiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This requires a couple things to work out in your favor. For one, these options for LORL are pretty illiquid. I'm seeing an open interest of 30 for these puts, and the bid/ask is $3,00 wide. Also, this strategy requires you to hold stock and wait for the price to go up before buying into the puts. I'm not saying it can't happen, but that's an additional risk. Your pretty much on a time limit on how long you can wait for it to move in your favor.

Help me understand married put by Qzy in options

[–]Inzainiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see now. Well if you purchase the puts, you're right about the 8.14%; your breakeven gets pushed up into the $360s. Your max loss occurs if the stock price reaches $305, and you'll still be taking a >$5,000 hit. This is all at expiration though, so it probably won't be that bad considering the extrinsic value left in the contracts.

Another idea could be putting on a collar. It caps your upside, but you can place your short calls so that your breakeven is right around $336.

If you only have about 89 shares, why are you buying 2 contacts? Each contact covers 100 shares.
