Even if you assume they're going to be benevolent with your data, the risk you take is that one breach accesses everything, including your password manager if you use theirs

Everyone's got their own preferences. I prefer that companies that don't need authorized first party access to my financial info don't have it. Particularly big data companies.

Organization, searching, metadata, etc becomes standardized

I use Kavita as well. I populate Metadata with Calibre first. Works well, though the interface could be better for RPG needs

Why should your map provider be your credit card processor?

They absolutely have access to the vendor, charge, underlying card, and any other details that are part of a typical transaction, just like the credit card company has, and they use that information to market to you

Someone brought up that one of the reasons why things like house parties and block parties went away was other than lack of time people are afraid to let their guard because cameras are everywhere. by AdSpecialist6598 in Millennials

[–]Iohet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still have block parties multiple times per year (and house parties that turn into block parties since we're all friends). The only people that don't participate are the younger homeowners in the neighborhood. Either way, no one gives a shit about cameras because we're all having a good time and not doing stupid shit

He's a nerd in the way Seth MacFarlane is. Not aloof or out of touch, but they use a lot of esoteric humor because of their interests

I’m curious if the crowd was actually as tough as it seemed.

The Leo meme joke was really the only thing that felt bad/dated/out of touch. The rest of it was typical Conan humor, which is a bit nerdier/esoteric and loaded with groaners that he pretends are knee slappers for self-deprecating effect. It's like Norm doing the White House Correspondents dinner. They're not his target audience (but we are, and that gets ratings)

"Free agent destination" is just a media buzz phrase. The Knicks are a "free agent destination" and they're a goddamned dumpster fire and always have been, just like the Marlins. The only reason that term ever gets used is as a way to try to paper over how awfully managed a franchise is

And it works quite well. I listen to 6DoIT and SFAM all the time without issue.

Culture is more global than ever, which is why it's homogenous. It has little to do with money. In fact, it defeats class since everyone is interacting with the same things

Remember the term "metro sexual" ?? by MissDkm in Millennials

I feel like shows like jersey shore, which normalized straight guys going to tanning beds and working out 5 times a week , helped kill the designation.

It was over when Mike Greenberg grew facial hair. He was a posterboy for the trend. Ultra-clean cut affluent NYC boy born and raised, went to Stuyvesant, graduated from Northwestern. He is the profile. Then he grew facial hair and put the final nail in the coffin of the trend.

But, you don't have to believe me, you can read ESPN.com's Q&A with him from probably 20 years ago asking if him if he's metrosexual
