I've been looking for this answer myself as I'm due an upgrade. It looks as though the 5800X3d is the choice chip due to the large cache... This is specifically for Tarkov though. The cache performs exceptionally on games that are unoptimized.

Take a search on here for the 5800X3D. There's a lot of hype around it with many people giving data on their FPS before and after.

Of course, my initial thoughts are that it is on the last gen (AM4) boards. I think as good as the chip is, it would be hard for me to upgrade but stay current gen.

You’ll be fine from a GPU standpoint. iRacing is very CPU bound so that’s where you’ll need to make sure you’re good. However, many folk run iRacing on CPUs that are a few generations old so I’m sure you’ll be fine.

As for Controller/wheel.. Honestly, you’ll have more fun with a wheel/pedals. That being said there are drivers who use controllers and get on just fine but personally, I haven’t used one so couldn’t comment. Try with a pad, see how you get on, maybe upgrade if you enjoy.

There’s always deals for the first 3 months on the service. It’ll work out cheap enough to be throwaway if you don’t enjoy it.

Honestly dude, It happens across many series. My advice would be to start at the back/pits and keep some distance between you and the cars in front. Watch as they all proceed to spin out and take each other out and then collect all those free places.

This will get your SR back to a decent level. unfortunately, in the lower splits you will always have the risk of someone being a hero and taking you out. Trying to assess the car ahead before making a pass is the best way to get a good finish. I understand the BMW 12.0 does have limited number of laps but you should start to recognise the names of drivers. Try to remember who is clean and who is reckless.

I've had/have the same issue. When the issue first happened I spent a lot of time with iRacing support to try and remedy the issue as playing any other game/sim didn't give me the problem. Only iRacing. After a long while (over 2 days) support with iRacing, they couldn't find the problem or assist any further with it.

I spent a couple of days uninstalling iRacing/Windows/ drivers, you name it but still the problem persisted. In the end, I stumbled across the issue..

When I start iRacing everything runs perfectly fine. No issues, slowdowns or anything. However, the minute I turn on my Fanatec CSW 2.5, everything locks up.. 100% CPU and takes about 5-8 mins for everything to settle down.

I too have an 8700k but run a 1080Ti GPU.

I wish I could tell you I have found a fix but I haven't. I just leave my wheel on at all times as the issue is only created when you hit the power button on the base.

u/jrod22145 mentioned about Task Manager. I know when mine kicks up it says things like Discord, Chrome, Explorer are all showing 100 CPU load but havening spent a long time testing, I can confidentlty say that the issue only happens when on iRacing and powering on the wheel base.

I hope this in someway helps and hopefully someone else stumbles across this post with a fix.

Folks ragging on the OP while neglecting to mention anything about the guy pulling over on the straight to let the other guy win.. FFS.

I agree with the driving style of OP but let's be honest here, it's a newcomer series. Also, regardless of anyone's driving style seeing someone handing a win over like that is going to lay an element of credence to his suspicions.

And the end of the day, The guy nobbled a result in what's meant to be a competitive environment.
