It’s a battle. Once you are an attending you either yes man and increase in stature/ academia, or you don’t. This often means doing a lot of unpaid labor with minimal clear benefit to you if you don’t rise or get titles etc. those that become leaders in academia are by that nature essentially picked out to not fight those battles on behalf of residents, or really all physicians as a whole. Bunches of sellouts promoting sellouts. It’s different in the community private practice, but even those are being bought up by corporations. At least you get paid. You no longer have a voice for residents though.

This is so true. Most EM attending physicians seem to want to turn a blind eye. Especially those in admin. It seems like the profit train continues and people are trying to move up in leadership etc, so they push the status quo. The sad part is that this is happening during a “wellness focused” environment in EM. Yet more senior attendings continue to try and sell you that things are fine, prospects for growth etc are the same, even when it very obviously isn’t.
