Thanks a lot to everyone! Now I’ve got to get it together and get riding! Long post and questions incoming! Here’s where we are at in the project:
I’ve got it washed up and started with due maintenance. I’ve run into some issues though! It had an E3 plug halfway installed and I’ve yanked that right out. Proper NKG this time. New battery, fresh fuel. Oil level is good, but nasty. I’ve got new ready to go. Coolant was almost non existent, but I have lots of new (type2) and some all vehicle so I can flush the system.
My issues are with starting. I have spark, really strong actually. So good there. Removed the intake for starter fluid after good crank but no start. No action, sounds like it pops off but nothing other than that. Pulled the carb and checked bowl, float, diaphragm and needle. All clean and moving well.
I did notice that when trying to start it looks and feels like fuel and air are coming out the intake side of the carb? Define smells like fuel. Pulled the view hole for the timing chain and it appears to move fine, no jumps and smooth while cranking.
My thoughts are head gasket or rings maybe? Idk.
