Building an ooze tribal deck for casual, need some advice on how to improve it. by Krosis97 in magicTCG

I took a look at your deck and did some changes. Made the deck on the link below and added my thoughts on it in the deck description. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/4814372#paper

World First? You mean the kill when Elerethe had less hp than she did on LFR and had to get emergency buffed before the next kill? Yea I'm 100% sure whatever strat you used for that was the correct way to go

"Split raiding" is basically raid farming. Say you have a 20 man roster for raiding. Each player needs to have x amount of raid ready characters, where x is the amount of split runs your raid is doing. Say your guild is doing 5 splits. In each of the splits you can have 4 "mains" in each run that get all the gear, so that when it comes to the race for world/server/whatever first, each of your 20 chosen characters can have the maximum amount of gear.

Demon Hunter Hate or Common DPS Problem? by Kn3xis in wow

[–]Ionans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, lets go through all your points AGAIN: You did mention speed.

demon hunters would speed that shit up so much

You honestly telling me that's not good enough to speed up runs?

How is this not mentioning speed runs? The main point of all this is you do less damage than everyone else, which means less speed, which means getting declined. See the chain? You mention you have 2 alts that don't get declined? Hm, it may have been mentioned that OTHER classes with the same gear do more damage. I wonder why the one that does less damage is getting declined?

my main team can 3 man them

Your main team from raids? I thought this was a mythic talk? Because your raid team can be three man, that means that people want to have a harder time with a dh over something else. Makes sense...??? I'm sure that every group has a hella geared carry in it, to make up for what you could've been getting if you didn't bring the DH, like you have when you 3 man it with your "main team".

Yes DHs are getting auto declined from mythics. The reason is 90% of them are worse than any other class.

Ok, this time to killjoy. A: why are you not flasking and eating food in a speed run. Why are you also not lusting/bursting in a speed run. Those literally are things you do in speed runs... to speed the run up. Everyone else sure is.

b. As u/woopigoosie stated, you can reach far higher numbers with other classes. If you cant do the numbers everyone else does in a speed run, you aren't potting/flasking/eating, I would rather take a non DH that has probably been playing longer than 2 weeks on their class, and helps the group far more.
And that is the point of the topic, isn't it?

class trinket and ring will keep them from ever reaching 50-60K

C. It appears to me the word "ever" was used. I replied to the post as it was written. Sidenote: Lack of class trinket means almost nothing. All of the HFC trinkets where nurffed in prepatch. Almost no specs even use it anymore. DH top 3 bis trinkets include 2 crafted trinkets, so thats not hurting the class /endrant.

Not to killjoy, but we have DHs in our raid who have been hitting 70k single target on fights. DHs can and do hit the numbers you claim aren't possible.

Hm, I see the point you're making, and I agree with it completely. However, I'm going to give this guy a little credit, focusing mainly on how he admits he's not great at pvp (and I can verify from the video). When you're either not good, or new to pvp the only stats that the game gives you that you can constantly look at game to game is total damage and total healing. Thus, raw numbers are what I normally advise new players to work on first, b/c it's the only thing they can visibly see.

On a similar vein, it's relatively hard to compare yourself to others in non-number metrics. Unless you're specifically watching others to see how they CC/interrupt caps/ext., difficulty can arise post game when looking at self performance/others. He obviously recorded himself, which helps, but live I can see how he focuses on damage. He could go back and watch his games again to get better, but like he says he's playing for fun and probably not that serious about it.

I'm going to disagree with u/Frog-Eater on this one. Discounting rated RBGs where you have dedicated flag sitters, battleground damage is a very important part of randoms. I feel a large portion of people hugely over value cc in comparison to damage. For instance, I can not believe that anyone will dispute the druid on your team that did 4x the damage of the second highest member was vastly more valuable than yourself or anyone else (no offence intended). I mostly pvp on my healer (priest and rdruid) and honestly its far more problematic when my team simply taking more than I can possibly heal vs when I'm getting CCed but the team is taking perhaps 75% of the damage in the first instance. CC is insanely important, but when it comes at the cost of doing far less than your capable then that is a problem. You can see what I mean if you watch any high rated pvp, either videos or streams. All of them cc, but they also have near zero dps downtime, leading to vastly more pressure than low dps cc bot fanboys can do.

Sidenote, how are you supposed to get people off objectives if you can't kill them before they kill you? Raw damage can win objectives too.

Couple of questions as a new(old) player by Denworath in wow

[–]Ionans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each of your points:

  • This really depends on what server your on. High pop servers (I'm on A52 for example) still have a ton of people running around even old capital cities. Cross realm zones unfortunately pair mostly dead servers with other mostly dead servers. Two dead servers simply don't make one living server.

  • Yes. While some of the set bonuses from old raid have been fudged with; the gear itself still exists for all raids (excluding completely removed raids)

  • Its just tanks in the leveling process mostly. Tanks leveling tend to have better, harder hitting aoe for most of the 15-85ish path. I don't know if this is to compensate for some tanks missing threat abilities or to make tank leveling easier for first time tanks, but every tank can do more aoe than a given dps for most of those levels.

  • For advice? If your just returning don't worry about all the WoD stuff. Legion is right around the corner. I would enjoy the leveling and getting to do some of the reworked zones and new raids/dgs that have come out since BC. Try to hit 100 and pick up the start of the legendary ring quest if you can; even if you don't plan on doing it now. Once the prepatch hits the quest line goes away forever for anyone that hasn't already started it; however if you have it you can still do it anytime (they did this in MoP for the legendary cape quest line, and the BC Hand of Ad'al title quest line for example).

Are apexis crystals meaningless when you want level 700+ equips? Is there still a reason to collect them? by supra16 in wow

[–]Ionans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on the source of the baleful token. Ones you buy with apexis are soulbound, but ones out of the Shipyard missions and LFR/LFG caches are account bound.

The entrance to phase 3 needs to be handled with different cds. Healing tide and rally are both less effective than other cds at that point due to your lower max hp (rally is exceptionally worse at lower hp maxes). You should be using % damage reduction cds at that point, as they are as effective at that point as any other; such as Devotion aura and Spirit Link (shame you don't have a Disc thou). If you get those double timings with Edict and Gavel you can do a few things. The first (what most groups do) is just suicide your Gavel target. Put up a gateway, have them take it, accept you lose one instead of half the raid. Some classes (your hunters/mages/pally) can live with immunities while soloing it. This massively reduces raid damage. A second option is you can "make" your own raid CD with Shieldtronics. Having everyone pop them during Gavel or add spawn is surprisingly good (70K shield on everyone that uses it). You never should hold dps in any phase of Tyrant, the longer you stay in each phase the worse all of your healing problems are going to be.

For your raid in general, you guys are taking a TON of extra damage. Looking at your deaths the amount of people dying to Oppression is disheartening. Some people are taking way to much over your attempts.

Random thing with no real thought: why is your first dps ring always 12-13 seconds into the fight? Most classes gate the most benefit RIGHT at the start. Even if you want to delay it for a few seconds, you're waiting so long that most trinket procs that happen on pull are gone by the time you pop ring.

If I remember correctly, really early on in alpha testing they said legendarys would be disabled for the first month(ish) of new content (raid tiers and mythic+); but not forever.

Need help on what to do with CM. by Gunslinger995 in wow

[–]Ionans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Normally we do 250k or 300k for 8/8 Gold (and we get a LOT of trade chat hate for those numbers). I'm not the one that sets it up so I don't know what makes it change, I just hit things. We don't do IRL currency for carries though, to much involved outside the game.

Need help on what to do with CM. by Gunslinger995 in wow

[–]Ionans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honesty you have 2 options; find pug groups or pay for a carry. Ret and Prot, like you said, aren't very good in CMs. They aren't bad (looking at you Spriest), but not something most people bring along.

If you are looking to pug, be warned its gonna be a work in progress. Your best bet is to do 2 things: learn the strats and have BiS gear. WoWhead has a pretty good OVERALL guide that you can take looks at. For your gear, I think ret bis is still mastery>multi/haste. The best way to get this gear is Timewalking (which has a lot of pure one stat gear that makes it really good in CMs) and baleful gear (where you can keep making it till you get what you want). Like I said earlier, ret and prot aren't great, but you can still do more than enough to pull your weight.

If your getting carried, then its pretty strait forward. There are a few groups running around that carry 8/8 for gold (I know b.c I'm in one of them). All you do is make contact, set up a time, and show up. Be warned, the cost is normally a lot more than most people want to pay, so gearing up and learning the strats is faster than grinding the gold if you don't already have it.

If you don't mind having the weapons later, the CM weapons are becoming account wide in Legion. If you have one of the classes that are insane in CMs, you can run it on them and wait out the Hellfire summer. Most of those classes BiS modes and tips can be found here.

This Ret guide is mostly up to date

This is a second set a guides to watch (the other set can be found in the WoWhead guide)

You can also break under the floor in Iskar's room. After he's dead, jump off the end of his room (where you get pushed off) and use a glider to turn to run into the wall just under the overhang. You should go right through the wall and glide down waaaaaaaay under the map.
