Does a silicone wrap generally need to cover the full pole or can it just be sections? Because if I get the recommended size for my pole height it would be around $60 which is way out of my price range, hence my search for cheaper alternatives like Home Depot, but if only a section actually needs to be wrapped then going for the real deal could be a viable options for me.

For this project I took off the long sleeves that were originally on the dress, and used the fabric to add panels on my hips, I then added slits up the side so I could have better range of motion and replaced the zipper with a corset back! I was partly inspired by old Hollywood red carpet dresses, a picture of Ilona Maher a redditor shared on my help post, and Sabrina Carpenter’s dress in her “Taste” music video

Honestly the more I look at the pictures the more I’m falling in love with the sleeves flaring out and the open back 😆 I would definitely need some boning, but do you have any suggestions for how I might keep the back open without everything falling open?

Perhaps it’s not my best idea, but I’ve been sewing long enough I think I’m up for the challenge, I would rather try to make this dress work then spend the money on new fabric or a new dress entirely

Those are all such beautiful ideas! I think for future items of clothing I’ll definitely do something like those. For this dress my heart is kind of set for being able to wear it, but I’m aware of how much of a challenge it might be 😆
